Hell yeah...saw another trailer for this one last weekend. Looks like a great story with a TON of action.

:thumbsup

AdultNex 07-30-2004 07:08 PM

Saw the preview too at the theaters... Jet Li's action moves are wicked.

candidpublishinginc 07-30-2004 07:10 PM

I saw it in Hong Kong like two years ago. I highly recommend it.

Magg 07-30-2004 07:11 PM

Whats it about? Is it sub-titled into english? I've never heard of it.

Rochard 07-30-2004 07:13 PM

No.

NOW GET BACK TO WORK.

BlueDesignStudios 07-30-2004 07:52 PM

does it have a plot? movies with Jet Li tend to have very litttle else to them :2 cents:

evildick 07-30-2004 08:04 PM

Definately. I noticed in the theater it said it was a Quentin Tarantino film? Pretty deceiving marketing, but still looks like it will be cool. Gotta love the shots with all those arrows flying.

Isn't he just like Exec Producing it and bringing it into the American markets much like Stone did with El Mariachi?

Ya, but when they show the trailer in the theater the first words you see scroll across the screen is something like "Quentin Tarantino Presents..."

Pretty cheesy way of attaching his name to it.

Buddy brought the VCD back from HK last year. VERY badass movie, and can't wait to see it on the big screen.

EZRhino 07-30-2004 11:25 PM

Hell ya ..... Anyone ever see Jet Li in "Fists of Legen" great fight scenes

RedShoe 07-30-2004 11:39 PM

My cousin has had it since early this year on DVD. He got it in a mall in Toronto. He just bought it off the rack.

I bought Ju-on part 1 and 2. (aka The Grudge)

We had no idea that either movie hadn't been released yet.

He just saw Jet Li and figured it was a straight to video thing.

Saw this in HongKong in December 2001.
It is nothing short of a brilliant movie.

However, some caveats.

1) It's Chinese film, and makes no apologies for that. So if you're expecting something along the lines of a wester-style Jet Li movie (the One etc) you'll be sorely dissapointed. This gets stuck in the 'arthouse' category.

2) Unless I'm terribly mistaken, this is released under Mirimax. The director has publically damned Mirimax for chopping the movie down to 1 hour 20 minutes for the 'general public'. I've seen the normal, extended and directors cuts, and can only recommend the director's cut.

3) It's goooorgeous, and wonderful. I have the signed director's copy, and all the posters from the HongKong subways!

4) Edit: It's got nothing to do w/ Quentin Tarantino. The director was the guy who did raise the red lantern etc, and he brought back his favourites.. look out for Maggie Cheung and the always cute Zhang Ziyi.

Of course. Dubbed movies are for the french, italian, german, homos and spanish people.

The only way to watch movies is subtitled. :2 cents:

Gheenz 07-31-2004 01:20 AM

Looks really sweet. Will have to talk to some people about getting the hook up.

L0stMind 07-31-2004 01:31 AM

owned it for like... 2 years now?

Good movie. I even watched it more then once!

rowan 07-31-2004 01:37 AM

Is the western release going to be subtitled or dubbed?

The first thing I did with my Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon DVD was to switch back to the original dialog (which is foreign to me), and turn on the English subtitles. It's just not the same with different actors playing the voices, especially when they all had American accents!
