You are. It wasn't over smoking weed. It was because he's rich and intelligent and doesn't feel like running laps in plus 30 weather, not to mention doing exactly what the team told him to all the time. He cashed out with at least 30+ million AND his health, so he can travel and continue his education and do things he cares about. Someone needs to photoshop a picture of the NFL logo, the Dolphins owner, Ricky Williams with a handful of cash and put OWNED on it.

I didn't like him much as a player, mostly because I dislike the man who drafted him and both teams he played on. After this I have a ton of respect for the guy.

MickeyG 07-30-2004 08:59 AM

Rich you dumbass maybe you should read the latest news. He failed his 3rd drug test. Thats why he retired. Not the bullshit reasons he gave us last friday. :321GFY

xclusive 07-30-2004 09:06 AM

He's a fucking pot head that will end up dead soon enough because he is out of control I hope he gets into rehab fast...

"I didn't quit football because I failed a drug test," he said. "I failed a drug test because I was ready to quit football."

4 games and a 695,000 fine is nothing to someone who is already rich and doesn't seem to care about how many touches he gets per game. Weed was not the main reason that he quit, his heart wasnt in the game. Respect the man and his wishes.

Wrong. He went thru what everyone with a good amount of cash and young age goes thru. How much is enough? Why am I continuing to bust my ass doing something I do not like doing when I have enough cash to easily live the rest of my life.

=dd

MickeyG 07-30-2004 09:35 AM

You have your facts all mixed up, he was suspended for 4 games and the fines added upto $1.7 million not $695k. That's half his salary for the year.

The guy is also being randomly tested 8-10 times a month at his home.

If i had to deal with all that I would quit too. But the fact still remains he quit because hes got a drug problem.

Mike AI 07-30-2004 09:44 AM

I am so glad the Saints traded his ass!!

lol yeah thats it.. he could not support that HORRIBLE 4 game suspension... Read the article again.. As for the repetitive drug tests.. he said he fucked up.. players have ways to fool those tests..

.:St Ides:. 07-30-2004 10:04 AM

A lot of fantasy league people are probably pissed as well

A drug problem? First of all, anyone using only marijuana can not possibly have a drug problem. I wouldnt give up smoking pot for anything. BUT i can go for months without smoking just fine when I cant find anything. Theres no way I'd give up smoking pot for a job, i'd try to fake out the drug tests like he probably did. Once he realized he had to choose between marijuana and football, he made the obvious choice.

Sounds like a smart move to me.. cash out and have some time to actually enjoy your success.

He wouldn't make anything after failing 3 drug test. He would have lost all of his endorsement deals. If he cleaned up his act sure he could make more, But thats the thing he doesn't want to quit smoking pot!

I passed on this junk baller this season. Thank FUCKING GOD I've got Holmes and Lewis (yeah, I got that frickin' lucky!). I never thought much of Williams anyhow...or maybe it was Miami that made him look bad?

stocktrader23 07-30-2004 11:13 AM

You damn people yelling he quit because he couldn't quit smoking weed need to get a life. He was making millions a year and if he really wanted to play he would have taken care of it. As you can see he didn't. I can't say that I might not pack up and leave with 30 million in the bank and my health.

SCtyger 07-30-2004 11:16 AM

fast forward a few years... and he'll still be a pot-head, with a shot back account, beggin for another chance...

sad.. he was a good RB .... not a great one tho... the great ones have heart.

Veterans Day 07-30-2004 11:17 AM

I give it 3 years before hes busted broke, he will pop up on espn in a sidenote about hows he's broke. Guaranteed:1orglaugh
