All this talk on stalking I decided to get some info

Since I keep hearing how all models will be stalked if info was give in out. I decided to get some numbers on this .It seems they have a better chance of being stalked by a coworker or the guy next door, then some affiliate or guy buying content.

A little over 1 million women and 370,000 men are stalked annually in the United States.

1 in 12 women and 1 in 45 men will be stalked in their lifetime.

77% of female and 64% of male victims know their stalker.

87% of stalkers are men.

59% of female victims and 30% of male victims are stalked by an intimate partner.

81% of women stalked by a current or former intimate partner are also physically assaulted by that partner. 31% of women stalked by a current or former intimate partner are also sexually assaulted by that partner. Intimate partners that stalk are four times more likely than intimate partners in the general population to physically assault their victims and six times more likely to sexually assault their victims.

73% of intimate partner stalkers verbally threaten the victims with physical violence, and almost 46% of victims experienced one or more violent incidents by the stalker.

The average duration of stalking is 1.8 years.

If stalking involves intimate partners, the average duration increases to 2.2 years.

61% of stalkers made unwanted phone calls; 33% sent or left unwanted letters or items; 29% vandalized property; and 9% killed or threatened to kill a family pet.

28% of female victims and 10% of male victims obtained a protective order. 69% of female victims and 81% of male victims had the protection order violated.

56% of women stalked took some type of self-protective measure; 11% included extreme measures such as relocating.

26% of stalking victims lost time from work as a result of their victimization, and 7% never returned to work.

30% of female victims and 20% of male victims sought psychological counseling.

that's great and all, i wanna see the stats on porn stars though

Not every girl who ever did a porn shoot is the subject of obsession.

check out the stats on rape and assault (male on female) THEn look at the Stalker numbers...

it all goes hand in hand.

taboo_gal 07-29-2004 07:16 AM

2 things to keep in mind here:

1) These are only from those who actually REPORTED the incident(s). How many men you know are going to admit that a woman has assaulted them or not be flattered by one stalking them? Further, even though we are in the 21st century, many women are still ashamed or afraid to report anything due to scare tactics or feeling they have brought it on themselves.

2) If they were to survey the same number of people, only substituting your average public for porn actors/models, those numbers would be much higher. Higher because they are in the public eye. They are really no different than non porn actor/model(s). Isn't the likelihood of their being stalked significantly higher than mine or yours?

I also didn't see that numbers of those killed by their stalkers were mentioned; at least not specifically. But they felt the need to mention killing a pet!?!? Interesting numbers there...kinda makes me wonder about their accuracy.

Tony, you're a riot, man! You get your feathers ruffled over .xxx, but brush off a real danger like it's a gnat on your shoulder. Methinks you've got things a bit backwards. :1orglaugh

Those figures are with the current situation.

When that changes the figures change too so these statistics mean nothing on the subject at hand.

tony286 07-29-2004 08:46 AM

What figures tell you is the behavior pattern. I looked up them because I was curious. The behavior pattern is stalkers stalk people they knowfor the most part. Also to think everymodel thatever shot porn is the object of someones obession is crazy not enough stalkers to go around.I am very self contained so alot of this doesnt affect me.So its not for self preservation. We produce everything we use and give out almost nothing. I dont want to see any girl hurt but more so I dont want to see webmasters go to jail and have their lives ruined. Most are young here and that would be a terrible thing.

all right, now I have to chime in again

does mandy go to conventions and sign autographs for fans? how often

i can honestly tell you that MOST porn fans think they DO know you, they think they are your best friend...and not in a celebrity sense where you feel a closeness because you have seen them on your tv or the movies.....they feel a closeness because they have seen a dick go inside you....and it is a scary closeness that cannot be matched in any other industry

you want some real life stats? i decided to call up some of my friends in LA that just happen to be porn stars...most don't have much experience with stalkers and creepy dudes, but they are private people...but there is one instance that I think you might get suprised about. I will not reveal the name of the star, but some asshole fan happened to get ahold of her address and post it on a VERY large porn fan forum, you know the type of forum, the ones with the crazed fans that know every detail of every scene she ever did...even if it was 1000 scenes...they know all of them by heart and in ways that the girl doesn't even know....

this girl had to change her phone # to start, then she had random dudes coming to her gate rining her buzzer (luckily she had a gate).....

to make a long story short, she eventually had to issue 3 restraining orders and take one dude to court who ended up not ever being able to be within 100 ft of her

to compare your wife (mandy) to a famous porn star is rediculous, famous porn stars are putting their soul on the line in 50 different ways, not just on the web and an occasional magazine....yes, we are all putting ourselves out there...but the fans you get from doing 200 videos are FAR different than the fans you get from a niche paysite, with an occasional magazine

what is boils down to, is what I brought up last night on icq....content producers need to make it policy that they only issue 2257 docs with content to legitimate coorporations.

Jace 07-29-2004 09:21 AM

oh, and the point I had about the conventions was that EVERY convention my wife goes to and signs for fans, she has people follow her and bug the fuck out of her wanting to talk about the scenes...and sometimes it gets VERY wierd....we have actually had people follow us out to the car at times, and our agent had to play bodyguard to get them away

THats not a stalker thats a fan dont confuse the two.

frankiep 07-29-2004 10:10 AM

This is crazy! The only reason they want this information so readly available is for one reason and one reason only......

They do not want the Adult Industry to survive this is just going to create another easy accessible excuse for when something goes wrong.

If other business don't give out personal information then the only reason they want the adult industry too, is so they can have a major stalking incident that will give them even more reason to shut us down.

Remember it only takes one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
