It's official. George A. Romero's next zombie movie : Land of the Dead

He finally received support and money the for the next installment.

I really hope that Tom Savini will be involved.

Plot outline :

The living dead have overtaken humanity. The last remnants of the human race live inside a walled city as they come to grips with the situation. The wealthy live in sealed skyscrapers as the poor fend for themselves on the streets. Protecting them is an enormous tank called Dead Reckoning, controlled by a group of people led by Riley. But when Riley loses command of the tank to an insane man bent on destroying the city, he must save it from Dead Reckoning as the zombies who walk beyond the walls of the city slowly develop new abilites and are turning into more advanced creatures

The rest of the survivors must find a way to stop the evolving zombies from breaking into the city.

Maybe it's time Romero moved on from the zombie genre.

It's been almost 20 years since Day Of The Dead ... (and noone has made a better zombie film since) ... 20 years is a long time to wait for a sequel!

All the more reason for Romero to leave zombie films alone.

Night of the Living Dead (1968)
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Day of the Dead (1985)

.. to medicore mainstream corporate hacks like Paul W.S. Anderson? (Resident Evil)
or ::shudder:: Uwe Boll? (House Of The Dead) :uhoh :helpme

I wouldn't worry that Romero is going to pull a George Lucas on us.
I predict a NC-17/unrated DVD of Dead Reckoning :thumbsup
