Just moved and stacked about 2 cords of firewood outside by my patio . . . and man, it smells great . . . . almost like being in a forest without the bugs and snakes

well, a few reasons

1. firewood is easier to get in the summer than the winter when everyone else wnats it too

2. it gives it 5 months to dry

3. I live by the beach, it isn't as hot here as it is where you are

4. and I love my firplace, as soon as it drops below 70 I fire it up and leave it burning until the temps rise again

I don't have a fire going now . . . but when winter comes, and it is raining, the sound on the open beam ceilings, . . . it is all about the atmosphere . . . plus I am slightly pyro

Rankings 07-29-2004 02:49 PM

me too...makes the whole house smell good when you bring it in

Hopefully you kept it off the ground a bit otherwise you will get twice the mice. I don't like piling it up against the house either, too easy for the mice to find a way in.

I agree though, the smell of fresh cut wood is great.

yes, it is probably good that my son is a firefighter . . . I have been known to do some not very smart (in retrospect) things with fire
