mookienow 07-28-2004 01:02 PM

Go with DELL serious, All the HP's Ive owned have not been superly great. Theres usually an issue with integrated hardware and software malfunctioning.... you will knowtice the formentioned right around os upgrade time.

www.epinions.com is a great site with nice reviews of almost all electronics

crockett 07-28-2004 01:03 PM

if you're really trying to buy a high dollar laptop like the one you posted get a http://www.voodoopc.com/ or a Sager (same as Aleinware) http://pctorque.com/

Fucking junk dude!

I have owned several HP and compaq computers. I would never get another one, complete garbage.

I just picked up another Sony Vaio desktop today and it was more expensive but they have proven to be much more solid units.

I'm telling you do some searches on Sagers they are the same laptop as an Aleinware (with the exception of the new body Alienware came out with this year) You can pick up one in that price range and it will be much better than a HP or Dell.. They also have warranties so it's not like you are buying junk.

MiSsBeHeaDReSs 07-28-2004 01:15 PM

I have a compaq Presario and its the best!! Never lets me down.
:)

psyko514 07-28-2004 01:15 PM

no, they're not.
my girlfriend has one and it's done nothing but give her problems.

go with a compaq presario. owned by the same company, but so much better. i love my presario laptop.

them dont have that option, though i guess i can get used to 80gb...
do u have one or have an experience with a sager?

mookienow 07-28-2004 01:23 PM

I as a rule classify compaqs and hp in the same group....not only because HP owns compaq now but because they suck too...

Axzar 07-28-2004 01:26 PM

My HP overheats as well, (It's an AMD900 Pavilion 5415) I need to take a external fan with me to prevent it.

Any hotshot lawyers want to take on a class action for these pieces of crap?

It also gets so hot it made me sterile!

Reak 07-28-2004 01:27 PM

you cant afford one anyway :1orglaugh

http://notebookforums.com/ go there and tons of reviews and so on.. A guy I know bought one and he has had no issues at all with it.. most people just get a external HD it's not like you need to have everything you own on one HD.
