Need advice for next computer

My laptop is just not doing the job, i'm going to get a new computer but i'd like to hear some opinions from everyone.

What do you think?

Build it myself?.. Buy in the store?

I told myself i'll spend $5,000(including monitor).. but i'm sure i'll go higher if I can get a kickass pc :glugglug

Let me hear your recommendations!
:thumbsup

I'd seriously either get a mac or an atari.

Show some style.

Build it yourself and you will get the satisfaction once you crank the monster up for the first time....

Check out the Sony vaio. I am on my second one, love the fact that I don't need adapters for transfering content from my camcorder or digital camera.

drool.. that thing is sexy

blazin 07-28-2004 03:29 AM

Buy it online from Dell - I get all my workstations and servers from there myself

You can make it yourself for cheaper but sometimes it not always a good option since you do get hardware conflicts and crap if you don't know what your doing.

TheMob 07-28-2004 03:33 AM

scary how some people don't even consider getting a mac. seriously, switch.

coolfuck 07-28-2004 03:34 AM

5k for a laptop?

DellSB - Dimension 4600 with 2.8Ghz P4, 256MB DDR SDRAM, 40GB HD, CD-RW and 2 Year Warranty for $449 after Rebate with FREE Shipping!

DamnGoodRatio 07-28-2004 06:26 AM

What are you going to do with it?

Video editing - dual xeon or a G5 is the best.

Server - dual xeon all the way.

Laptop - I like me Vaio bunches, but make sure you get one with a good touchpad (they alternate between off brand and brand name).
