But I held out.

Brad if you're being paid by extremepay don't you owe them the courtesy of continuing to fly their sig? If I were your employer and you were flying someone else's sig I would be PISSED!

Not trying to create drama here, just giving you my :2 cents:

My ex bosses went apeshit when I sold my sig as well. WHY??? It's my fuckin' reputation on the board, not theirs.

I had to pay back money that was sent to me. Over a SIG!! And the irony is.. I was an independent contractor.

As far as I'm concerned, when you work someone you just work for them for the hours in which they pay you. I shouldn't be expected to wear their shirts out in public on my time why should I fly their banner on my time? Building an online reputation takes time... It's taken me years to build myself up here on GFY. Me.. not them. I see that as a free ride on my reputation. If you hire someone and you expect them to use your sigs on the boards then you need to tell them that when you hire them..

I think it's wrong to take food out of their mouths. If a guy was working for me, and he sold his sig for $800 during the sig boom, I'd let him do it. It'll boost his morale and it'll give him a lot more cash at the end of the month to do something nice for his family or girlfriend.

DrinkingHard I love you man, and I respect you. But I disagree with you 100% on this.

Exactly. Unless the sig is part of the contract, your GFY account is really none of your employers business.

Yeah, I agree with you.

But, if you're gonna represent another company on the boards it just looks like the company can't even pay for your sig space if you fly your competitor's banner.

Kinda like wearing a WWF shirt if you're out pimping for greenpeace.

Does that mean he cant send traffic to other sponsors? He cant post in their threads? Where is the line drawn? Unless the employer specifically makes it clear before hiring, I'd say GFY:321GFY , this person is willing to pay X amount for my sig, you currently get it free, either give me a raise to cover the sig $ or cry yourself to sleep every night about it. I'm sure if you fired someone for that they could win a lawsuit

xclusive 07-28-2004 12:38 AM

It sucks that you couldn't sell your sig but you should have just said you would talk to your lawyer about the situation and they would have probably left you alone as to not have the hassle. Just my :2 cents:
