SEO Optimisation and Domains
how important is the domain in optimizing for search engines nowadays?
does it help to have the keywords in the domain. for instance, if you want the keywords CAR and BOOK, how useful is it to have CAR-BOOK.COM? can you have just as good results with X-Y-Z.COM? |

It can help, but you'll still have to optimize everything else.
|
better to have
keyword1-keyword2-keyword3.com then keyword1keyword2keyword3.com My :2 cents: tb |

All the search engins are different so I would suggest that you find the search engine that you want to target and search for the tips on that particular one. Just my :2 cents:

For the biggest search engines it doesnt really matter.
www.buy-books-now.com is just as good as www.z6g4f.com/buy/books/now/buy-books-now.html BUT , that being said, with domains so cheap , if you nail a good spot, it sure helps the surfer decide if the domain clearly matches the words.. ( common sense never hurts ) |

Yeah, i highly doubt it makes a difference, but SEO is not my specialization, so you can get better opinions from others.

I agree with SmokeyTheBear - I think if the keywords are in the domain the surfer is more likely to click on your site than a link that has no keywords in the domain.

the domain isn't as important as it used to be, but some posts in this thread make some valid claims

The domain isn't important, but some times
it's can help you to get more traffic. |
