Registrar with cheap transfers right now.
I need to transfer about 40-50 older domains from godaddy (yeah i know :) ) today. Those names are not that important so I can go with a cheap registrar.
Who would you suggest besides directnic & registerfly? Who has got cheap transfers right now and is solid? Thanks for all opinions. |
also any comments about namecheap appreciated
|
i wouldnt trust any others than registerfly or directnic, registerfly is fairly cheap for transfers and they stick on an extra year normally if that offer is still running

I haven't had any problems with namecheap in the year I've been using them:thumbsup

Why are you moving from godaddy - you gonna pay $15 at Directnic instead of 8 buck at GoDaddy's...
|
not the price, its the fact that domains get hijacked if not locked, with godaddy people just lose domains all the time.

w3go.com - $7.75 transfers.

Godaddy is the worst there is. |
I think namecheap has a special running now where you get free whois-protect for all transferred domains
At 8.88 they are slightly more expensive than some others but their interface is extremely fast loading and very well organized. They have all those free DNS and whatnot features as well, including multiple IPs for round robin, email thingy's and whatnot Thumbs up for namcheap |

I always am a little supicious when a company that should be making good money has such a webdesign... Even I can design better than that..... |
with registerfly you get what they call flylock, which puts a 'locked' status in your whois information. stops anyone from stealing your domain.
from google: Explanation of domain locking: Some domain registration companies send out misleading renewal notices via email and mail ( Many people have been tricked into transferring their domain name when they thought it was a renewal notice. ) . Because the admin contact is required to be public information, it is a simple matter for them to find this information. Some of these companies make unauthorized transfers of your domain (hijacking), and locking protects you against any unauthorized activity. Domain locking prevents your domain name from being hijacked or accidently transferred. If a transfer to another registrar or hosting company is requested for a locked domain name the transfer request will automatically fail. If you wish to transfer a locked domain name you simply have to login to your control panel and unlock the domain name. Please note that your domain name must be unlocked to update the nameservers. You may immediately lock the domain once you have made the necessary nameserver changes. |

I use enom, bulkregister and registerfly and a few few others, and namecheap is easily the best. |

Will send half of the domains there then but still I am looking for others so keep comments comming :) thx |
Namecheap has that locking feature too.
If you're looking for a better price, buy a $6.95 enom account from someone for $300-400, it comes with all the features namecheap has (they're a enom reseller) Registerfly's site is so slow it's ridiculous. Changing a few things on a couple domains takes forever. Their site also likes to time out on a regular basis |
The enom interface is considerably slower than namecheap's though
But still much faster than registerfly |
