Places to visit in Orlando?
I'm going to Orlando with my wife and son for 5 days, in a week, and I'm looking for some attractions that are a MUST see while we're there. I've heard that most of the amusement parks are extremely overrated, and expensive, can anyone confirm this? It's been almost 15 years since I've been to Orlando so I'm a bit out of touch. :1orglaugh
I'd appreciate it if you could name a few places! |
If you haven't been in 15 years and enjoy amusement parks, they're neither overrated or expensive.
I just went to a small local park today. Cost me $20 a ticket and I would have rather spent $100 a pop for Disney or Universal today. |
Get Park Hoppers if you'll be in the parks most of your time down there.
Swim with dolphins @ Discovery Cove (It's a bit expensive but worth it in my opinion (you'll need to make reservations)) |
Whoever said that the theme parks are overrated is wrong...and probably just visited Disney.
Just be sure to get to the gates at 8:30 AM to avoid the crowds. The parks don't get crowded until 11:00 AM or so. We have season passes to the 3 parks below. We go most every weekend and have a blast. Always something new to do. Seaworld Kraken is a must (Best coaster in Florida, Bottomless!) Shamu rocks America (Night show) is awesome! Journey to Atlantis is good Dolphin Show is good Skip the Sea Lion show - it sucks Universal Studios Revenge of the Mummy (Awesome!) Terminator show is cool Back to the future will give you a headache...way too bumpy. Islands of Adventure Hulk (Good Coaster) Spiderman (A Must!! Awesome Ride) Jurassic River Ride is cool...you get very wet The Popeye River Ride is cool...you get very wet There is a LOT to do at these parks....much more than you can do in a couple days. Have Fun!! |
I was there last summer and thought Universal was awesome.

You should go without your family and party :)
But if you have to take them, then I guess Disneyland |

The other parks are much, much better. :) |
I've got a secret for Universal Studios but I've heard they have a similar program at Disney.
Contact they're Guest Services department and ask for a VIP setup. The park will provide you with an escort for the day and you'll be able to bypass the line. It was a few years ago now that I was clued into this and I've done it and know others who have as well. :thumbsup |
Islands of Adventure (New Universal Studios theme park).
$70 a ticket. Plus, buy an express pass for $35, and you're set, to jump ahead of 1 hour long lines. Pretty fun, a bit small, and boring after a while - But nevertheless fun. |
your son would definitely enjoy Disneyland
|
Wet and Wild/Blizzard Beach...both real fun...Cocoa Beach/Playalinda Beach...Ron Jons...Downtown Disney is a fun place. So is Citywalk and all that.
