How much does the average paysite earn for its owners

an average decent converting paysite - how much with good promotion would one expect to be earning normally - any rough ideas would be good

Roald 07-26-2004 07:49 AM

$1.200.325 but thats a real rough number :thumbsup

But seriously it is hard to say, too many factors :)

riosluts 07-26-2004 07:50 AM

an amateur one or a professional one?
it all depends

also depends on the niche, content, advertisers. Too many factors to consider this

Aquarius 07-26-2004 07:51 AM

It's all about the rebills, good exclusive content should do it, especially with a very tight niche. Hard to give an average.

Frank The Tank 07-26-2004 07:53 AM

exclusive content on a NEW niche .. have a great idea in the pipeline which will be very unique and different

Reak 07-26-2004 07:53 AM

I think the average paysite owner has about 200 to 300 members in his or her paysite.

Pays 50% to the affiliate from the total money he or she makes

~ 250 x ~30 = $7500
- 50% to affiliate = $3750
- 10% (ibill) costs = $3375
- hosting/content/updates/plugins

About ~ $2500 left for the owner

I forget the rebills :thumbsup

a average paysite

Frank The Tank 07-26-2004 10:15 AM

well of course its not going to be an average paysite ;) a very good unique one

Jakke PNG 07-26-2004 10:17 AM

anything from
minus 5000 per month to millions per month.
Depends on the volume of traffic you get on your own, the amount of active affiliates, the design, the rebills, the cost of content and plugins and so forth. That is a question I don't think has an answer.

exactly

tell me how anyone here (apart from processors) is about to know what the "average" paysite generates?

ShaneRyale 07-26-2004 10:34 AM

For us it's all about good affiliates and great content. We've been around for a long time and have many thousands of members. We've always created our own quality exclusive content in our niche. We really focus on one major niche instead of spreading ourselves thin on a lot of different sites. We are now in a position after many years of being an established site that we are starting to grow and span out without losing the quality of our main niche content. Also, since we spend so much time and effort on that, our site converts VERY well and retains even better, so the affiliates we have are very loyal and have been making alot of money with us for several years.

As far as a number goes, it's going to be difficult to make a figure, but you have to weigh which is better, you can buy content for almost nothing now days, but your retention will be lower, or you can make exclusive content which is much more expensive to produce, but rention is longer and that makes your affiliates more money as well, so they will spend more effort on promoting you.

Frank The Tank 07-26-2004 10:39 AM

Thanks shane for the reply , and everyone else .. this will be my first forray into the paysite end , all the content will be custom and we believe we are onto something good .. and congrats on your success

Ask this dude who runs www.foulfowl.com . He can't even make 20 a week yet he thinks he has some gay obsession with me and wants to be the next BVF.

Well my first foray into paysite ownership was quite recently. I purchased an affiliate program with 9 deluxepass paysites. The sites came approximately with 125 recurring members. The revenues per month for these sites were roughly $1200-1500 a month (mostly from rebills).

Since I purchased the affiliate program, I have had my designer make 4 new deluxepass sites plus hosted galleries. Also I have added an additional server for free hosting for movies for my affiliates.

Now I am just starting to send my own traffic to these sites so hopefully over the next couple of months we should double to triple our members base and pick up some good affiliates.

So far so good, I have invested a reasonable amount of money and should hope to turn a profit on the amount invested by December/January.

Wish me luck :)

Its all depends.

I know one guy who make only about 200$ a mounth from his paysite, bicause he doesnt know how to udvertase it.
And get a very little trafick.
And the site is not bad.

And i know guys with a shitty sites, that make much more, bicause of the trafick.

There is no spezifick numbers here...some paysites owner make 50 k and some less than 1k.
And the sites can be the same quality.

from figures i have calculated over the past few months a bog standard cookie cutter paysite with no exclusive content that has a nice tour and a couple of updates a month can earn the site owner around $50k per annum once webmaster payouts have been handled

that doesnt take into account any subsidiary funds made from things like mailouts or upsells within the site though :2 cents:
