1. Non athlete who attempts to pitch it in hard and comes up short?

2. Non athlete who throws the ball up at forty-five degree angle and it floats like a rainbow to the catcher . . . but the catcher has to run to catch it?

These are basically the only two things that ever happen when a "non athlete" throws in the First Pitch.

I heard the interview on ESPN with the catcher who caught the pitch:


He was ordered to help Bush practice (earlier in the day) so that that he could get the ball to him. They threw for a long time.

He said he had to be searched (thoroughly) before he practiced with the President.

He said the President worked hard to be able to make the pitch.

He said that Bush had been working at home for weeks (as well) in order to get make the throw.

He said they searched him again before the start of the game and the actual first pitch.

I wish he would have asked if Bush could put a little of that effort into his job as President.

It looked more like a passed ball than it did a wild pitch to me. :winkwink:

I was at a Cleveland Browns game where a fan was given the chance to kick a field goal for a million dollars.


Starting from the other endzone - He had to punt the ball and wherever it landed, he had to pass the ball and wherever the pass landed, he had to kick a field goal off of a tee. He also had only one minute to get his field goal kick away.


You would think that any normal human would have practiced (just in case).

He actually had his tee placed so he had about a thirty-five yard field goal . . . he ran up to kick the football and hit it at the top of the ball.


So the football rolled end over end along the ground from the tee to the endzone.

It was sooooo sad.

I just love the fact that Bush practiced for WEEKS to be able to throw the ball without bouncing it. I don?t care that his throw ended up being way off the plate, or that he could have spent all his ?practice? time on issues that matter. At least that ball didn?t bounce!
