Havent had A Drink In almost 2 weeks

I drank heavy for years, then quit for 5 months taught myself control,
Now I only drink socialy here and there, feels much better than drinking all the time.:glugglug

Good for you! Some people do well in the AA atmosphere but you have to be into that pour your heart out, gimme a hug, self-analysis type. Others can reason in their own heads and decide they have what it takes to just say no.

I know it can't be easy...but hey...you proved you can do it on your own. That says a lot for your character.

my dad said the same thing actually - but his group kinda didn't really play up the god shit. he's been dry 35 years, he stopped going about 20 years ago when the group got more "Godly" lol - but he stayed dry

i am a cold turkey person.

i am not quitting drinking entirely, but there is no moderation at this point.

I have friends who roll through and have a couple beers and they are off to work, then I a stuck sitting with beer wanting to keep drinking.

I quit smoking by simply stopping, this was in 1997.

I got tired of cigarettes and simplyput it down, its the only way to quit something.

add sugar to the list hahaha i dont even eat refined sugar (white sugar)

talk about will power.

the AA here is all GOD.

it was like going to church.

another thing I couldnt stand was everyone was a coffee drinker and a cigarette smoker.

Having quit smoking cigs 3 years before going to AA, i couldnt help laugh at the irony.

These fucking addicts couldnt go an AA session without 4 cups of coffee, 6 cigaretetes, but hey, "no alcohol."

that type of comfort addiction is worse than the alcohol itself.

Congrats! I gave up liquor myself recently and I rarely drink at all. I've only had a few glasses of wine with dinner in the last few months.......... I sleep better, I am more focused, food tastes better...... and I could go on and on.
