Almost 4 years ago I met this chick in a club. We hit it off good and became fuck buddies. She vanished after about 8 months.

The other night I bumped into her again. We exchanged numbers and hooked up for lunch the next day. My hopes were high.

Turns out that she contracted HIV last year.

WTF was I supposed to say at that point?

Seriously though......I did not know WTF to say to the girl. I had a lot of questions going through my mind but did not want to seem invasive by asking any of them.

What would you have done?

My "hater" GFY answer would be "have her pay for the bill since she won't need money where she's going anyway."

My real answer though would be "ask if she has a non-HIV sister who's as liberal about sex as she is... and preferablly hotter."

There isn't too much you can say. HIV is not an easy subject to discuss in that type of situation. Other than wishing her the best...I'm sure she is aware that with her condition the chances or you two hooking up again are over.

Yes, because HIV is retro-active up to 3 years.... meaning that despite her not getting it until 3 years after sleeping with him, he could still have caught it from her.

How do you KNOW she CONTRACTED it last year? She may have tested positive last year, but HIV can live dormant in the body for up to 10 years. She could easily have had the virus when you were humping her without knowing. I would get tested if I were you.

You said you didn't know what to say to her? Once she told you, how did the rest of the conversation and evening go?

Personally I would've asked a lot of questions about it, if she was actually on tri-therapy, if the virus was still detectable.. I would've been more curious. But that's just me. :)

HIV can live dormant in the body so knowing exactly WHEN someone contracted it is impossible. She could have had it in her system four years ago.

One time I was at the beach house in Florida and noticed there was a coast guard chopper that flew regularly on our side of the island but not on the other side where the public beach was. This was in Pensacola about 3 miles from where all the shark attacks had happened the year before.
