Logo Outline - Opinions Needed! (PIC)

The logos listed below are a very rough outline sent for me to review.
I'm hoping a lot more work will be put into the chosen item after I've made up my mind.

Please comment if you can, or just pick a favorite.

The company creating this logo is very popular on this board, so I'm guessing they wouldn't mind hearing comments from GFY board members.
Sketch: Logo Idea #1
Price: $350.00

350$ for this?!
O_o

NickPapageorgio 07-23-2004 10:31 PM

#2 is dope. #1 is my second choice and I don't like the other 3 at all.:2 cents:

Newton - XXXAmigoz 07-23-2004 10:31 PM

What's it destined for?

I like #2

Not sure what this is for but the high contrast would look good in print work.

#3 is pretty cool too but #1 is the closest to your sketch.

chronic avenger 07-23-2004 10:33 PM

sorry not feeling them.

Gheenz 07-23-2004 10:34 PM

#1 is definitely #1 :thumbsup

fr8 07-23-2004 10:34 PM

5 if the inside image was larger. 2 is the best.

KRL 07-23-2004 10:34 PM

Not crazy about any, but #2 is the best there.

Zebra 07-23-2004 10:34 PM

#2 reminds me a lot of the G-Force logo from the Battle of the Planets cartoon.

Zerof8 07-23-2004 10:35 PM

yeah #2 first then #1 but if u dont choose either of those i would go back to the drawing board:2 cents:

nofx 07-23-2004 10:35 PM

they all look kinda plain and simple. I like #1 the best out of em all.

Nader 07-23-2004 10:36 PM

#1 :2 cents:

Well, this is the first outline, so that the creators know which direction to steer in.

Texture + Color Schemes & Variations are still left to be done.
Hopefully this will get things looking a bit better, and friendlier to the eye.

I'm very open to suggestions and ideas.
If a logo designer out there thinks he has a better model structure/idea, I wouldn't mind paying for that idea (if used).

Superman Logo take off? Personally speaking none of those grab my attention. 3d? It really depends on what it's destined for ultimately?

2,1,3 --------- 4and 5 just do nothing at all for me.

badmunchkin 07-23-2004 10:58 PM

they all kind of suck

My list was numbered in the order of the most likable to my tastes.

I'm honestly not feeling any of them "yet." I've narrowed the list down to #1 + #2
So hopefully when the design team beings work on Monday, they will return with some "wow" quality work.

There still has to be a lot done : [texture / color scheme / further modifications]

I'm really going for something that will easily be remembered, and will flow nicely with a design built around it.

ex: the logo will be the midpoint to the top menu.

Well, basically the logo was built on brandability + identity. It's not aimed at specific market or a specific demographic. It's mostly a visual object to establish an identity when seen.

Similar variations will most likley be used in a number of different projects, some of which will be aimed to the webmaster community.

Chances are you guys will be seeing this in an upcoming project in the future . :)

Yeh, ultimately I would love to see this logo branded on a metal business card. :thumbsup

I'm sure the copyright holders to Superman would love to see this work being sold.

Doctor Dre 07-24-2004 02:48 PM

#1 is technically the best one ... but I can't beleive you paid 350 $ for that bullshit ...

hah that's one of the things silently eating away at me.
I have no problem spending the money, but I like my moneys worth. I pretty much mapped everything out for them to the best of my ability, that alone saved them time and effort.

I have my trust in the company, so hopefully they will deliver an exceptional final piece. :) :thumbsup

Manowar 07-24-2004 02:58 PM

#1:thumbsup

czarina 07-24-2004 03:00 PM

I like #1, but I hope they will REALLY put a lot more work into them... Very plain so far. But tasty

warlock5 07-24-2004 03:04 PM

I like 2 and 3. As for $350... well, you could have hired a professional design firm to do the same for $3500 ;)

Me neither, and at least 50.

What's up with your dieselaction sig?
seems to be down for me

neverlearn 07-24-2004 07:41 PM

Call me crazy but I think #4 is the one with potential...needs a little simplifacation and tweaking.
#2 I would try to make the "G" more "diamond like....In fact if I was doing this logo I would run all on the diamond shape and gleam and lighting effects type thing...
ya feelin' me dawg lol.
Good Luck and definatley the ideas are there

I honestly don't see this, but I've had a few people tell me it has potential. Maybe it's the positioning that's throwing me off, I'll look into this further. Thanks. :thumbsup

for starters I would align all angles at the same degrees as the diamond edges...where possible

Next I would lose some of the serifs then hard bevel it and see what it looked like...unfortunatley I am super busy...just taking a five minute break from coding 30 web pages and designing a splash or I would show you what I mean :helpme

Za Ha 07-24-2004 10:11 PM

I dont like any of them but #1 looks the most like your sketch. Good luck.
