Do you think anyone will be prosecuted for the new 2257 laws?
well...do you think someone will actually get prosecuted for not complying?
|
I would give good odds they already have a list ready.
|
For errors in trying to conform no especiallly if all your models are over 18. If you decide to do nothing then yes probably but who knows.

They create a law that it almost impossible to comply with, why would they do this if they wouldn't plan on some major attacks against the industry...

correct me if I am wrong, but the body that enforces 2257 has to report back yearly their findings................
This is what i understood to be the case. And I can't see them going into their meeting without something to justify their existance. |

as mentioned above, yes they have a list.
after the clarification they will wait awhile for people to comply then they will nail them. law states they check you every 4 months. think what that will cost? anything for a show for the elections. that is what it is about. |

i think people will take their chances on this one.. and if they start enforcing this shit, webmasters will go offshore or just close shop..
if thats what america wants, let it be.. there are much easier and more efficient ways to fight child porn, but this seems more like a war against porn in general.. |

For people that think I shoot older models I dont have to do this. You are very very wrong. Also if they fine you its not $50 , its $5000 at the cheapest. IF its like other fines in court if you dont have the money you sit in jail til you get it.

and to add, they're not gonna throw webmasters across the usa in jail for not being 2257 compliant. wouldnt be worth it for anyone (UNLESS the pics were proved to be under 18 yrs of age). then i can see them going to jail, but not just for not having a 2257 link on sites. |
I don't know if they will go after anyone specifically for this law, but I'm sure they will use it if they want to nail someone bad enough and can't get them on anything else...
let's face it, even if you're records are super clean and 100% in compliance, you still don't want the Feds snooping around...god forbid they find a single image in your cache that you can't account for... |
Oh Canada........
|
yeah, and it'll be someone big
they need an example to ensure everyone else complys |

I think so, it's only a matter of time. They'll show an example of someone.

same goal, different method either way they win |

correction And I can't see them going into their meeting without something to justify their existanceagain . Oh and Aaron M thanks for the correction |
my best bet is that they'll start going after "extreme" sites, and teen sites first - easy victories.
|
I'm just confused :(
The overall idea does not seem feasible w/ 92384902384932 adult pages out there. |

look what they did here http://www.usdoj.gov/dea/pubs/pressrel/pr022403.html they went after 20-30 bong sellers online, and then the rest of the pack closed shop out of fear |
