How much is your electric bill monthly?

and where do you live?

My shit is up to $200 bucks/month now! It's just my girlfriend and I, here in Newport Beach, CA.

NBDesign 07-22-2004 06:18 PM

This time a year... 200+ Phoenix, Arizona... and it's hot as HELL here. Winter months... 80-100. 1500 sq ft single story home... with energy efficiency stuff.. insulation and such. Yeah, right. LOL

MattO 07-22-2004 06:19 PM

Hovers a little under 200. I open the fridge too much, and my wife likes the place chilly. I just added a shitload of insulation to the attic so hopefully next month's bill will be lower.

AaronM 07-22-2004 06:19 PM

ZERO!

I just run an extention cord from my trailer to the outlet behind the managers trailer.

JSA Matt 07-22-2004 06:20 PM

Mines at about $130 and I don't even have an air conditioner :helpme

swoop 07-22-2004 06:21 PM

$130 w/central air. In S. Jersey

pubenemy 07-22-2004 06:21 PM

2400sq ft house kept at around 73F with ac in southern FL. Ranges from 130-200/month.

Michele R. 07-22-2004 06:22 PM

Those are pretty cheap bills.

I guess LIPA is expensive. I pay over $500.00 per month during the summer.

You have/need AC to that degree by the beach?

Peaches 07-22-2004 06:26 PM

At my last house it would run about $450-500 during the summer because the house was so poorly insulated.

Now that I'm in a much smaller house, and it's a log house with a billion shade trees around it, it's never higher than $150. AND it's all electric - cooking, hot water, heat, etc. whereas my old house had gas for those things. :)

Yes, I run AC a lot of the day.

Elli 07-22-2004 06:35 PM

I'm on the equal payment plan, so this year it's 113$Cdn a month. No central a/c though, and the hot water heater and furnace run on natural gas, not electricity.

Do you not live close enough to the water to just open your windows?

do you have an extra?

Tam 07-22-2004 06:42 PM

Mine runs about $250 a month... give or take a few bucks. But there are 5 of us here. Along with that comes 5 TVs that are almost always on, a 6th in my bedroom that is on most of the time...... and every damn game deck you can think of, music equipment, 4 computers....... and god knows what else. Kids running in and out from sunup to sundown.... so all in all, I can't complain. Most people where I live have $300+ electric bills on average, unless they live alone.....

pxxx 07-22-2004 06:43 PM

Absolutely NOTHING! I live in a hut with gas lamps.:thumbsup

Cook with gas and use torches. Saves money for weed and 40's.

wyldblyss 07-22-2004 06:56 PM

I just got in my electric bill today, it is $314. Our house is about 3,200 sq feet, we have central air and a swimming pool.
Gas for last month is $380, which covers the hot water bill and the pool heater set at 85 degrees. When we opened the pool the water was only about 60 degrees so it took a lot to get it warm because it is a large pool. This month it will probably be about $150.

pushpills 07-22-2004 06:58 PM

man, those numbers are like twice than my parents house, and they have a big fucking house.

I have window a/c in my apartment, and lots of electronics. I run like 30 a month.

Methodcash Rick 07-22-2004 07:14 PM

In Vegas in a new "energy efficient" house... $450 - $500

Low wattage light bulbs, very seldom watch tv, ac set at 75, ceiling fans on, never leave lights on, EPA setting on motherboard and of course monitors.

3000sq ft house with the a/c set at 72 degrees. Florida - $275 to $300 a month. Everything is electric .. no gas. Well insulated, triple paned windows, etc..
Winter runs about $150 a month

TurboTrucker 07-22-2004 09:16 PM

$220 per month - they take the average for a year and bill that. If they didn't do that it would be about $125-175 in winter and 300+ in the summer.

Check this out....my bill was about $400-500/mo. Older house with poor insulation and windows, 3000 sqft. Pool and Spa.

So one day about half of our power is out only, so we call Edison and they find some bolt in our panel and was causing a short so they remove it.

Next month the bill comes and it's $1200!!!!! WTF? So we have them come out to evaluate and of course they say nothing is wrong that is what the bill is. So a few months go by still paying $1200-$1400/mo!!!!

Our spa breaks down and we get a new one and the next month our bill is back down to $400 again! WOW, isn't that crazy how the one older item not engercy efficient by todays standards can rack up a bill like that? Thank god we found the issue, now we can pay for the spa LOL :)

Thugmaster 07-22-2004 09:24 PM
