Alright I got a question...

So, my wisdom tooth hurts like hell, and it's definitely time for it to come out. My question is...

Is there anyway to get your wisdom teeth taken out and have it be considered (to the insurance company) a medical surgery instead of dental.
Please help me. Any thoughts are appreciated, what can I do???

I'm delaying getting my wisdom teeth pulled out as well since i"m uninsured. Estimated cost was nearly $5k. Trying to find out if I can get my company to pick up the tab :)

Dont really know. Mine were yanked out (ALL OF THEM) at once while in the Marines. They didnt want me to get an infection while on the battle field and then have to be pulled out. They said hey look at it this way. You got them yanked out for free. It would have been 500.00 in 1988. Some im sure its a lot more now. Sorry for you pain.

Yea that would be super nice. See I have medical insurance, but I lost my dental insurance in like February. It hurts sooooo bad WG. Yea I looked into some prices and it was like $1500.00 per tooth, that's frickin nuts!!!!

I hope your company pays for it! :)

Don't know of any way to get it covered as medical unless you can get a MD to say that it is necessary to prevent some sort of medical condition.

Even with that I would be surprised if the insurance company will go for it.

In a few weeks I'm going in to get two wisdom teeth removed and another problem tooth that is abcessed. Will only cost $1,000 before insurance kicks in.

Me too. I don't need another audit so I think I'll just absorb it :)

Rankings 07-22-2004 02:37 AM

mmm...that would be tough. good luck with that

graphicsbytia 07-22-2004 03:04 AM

aww.. poor hon, I feel so bad for you

and if it hurts that bad, it's infected, go to the emergency room and get some antibiotics that'll take the pain away until you can get your doctor to write you a letter, explain to him that you haven't got insurance and maybe he can write a letter to them saying it's affecting your sinuses or something

good luck hon ;)

Let a firecracker go off in your mouth...get in a fight...anything that looks like an accident...

mindoza 07-22-2004 05:52 AM

wisdom teeth are covered under regular insurance. Go to see a oral sugeon then it will be covered.

Lifer 07-22-2004 07:14 AM

Just go to a gay bar and call them a bunch of fags.

Free dental work :1orglaugh

emmanuelle 07-22-2004 07:42 AM

I've heard that one can get dental work done in a hospital, and have it covered under their health insurance.

I know people that have done this in ON, to have their OHIP cover the expense.

ArikaAmes 07-22-2004 07:49 AM

Thank you everyone for your good suggestions. I think that graphicsbytia's idea may be the best bet, I need to get something...Aleve and Tylenol doesn't help anymore...lol

Thank you again guys and ladies!!:)

You would think so, but I don't think it's like that where I live...I wish though. I've heard that if one of the teeth are infected though, they won't touch them at a hospital, just give you medication. :(

chodadog 07-22-2004 07:59 AM

Have it done in the nude. Film it. Sell it to members. Great way to offset the cost.

mindoza 07-22-2004 08:00 AM

what part of ohio are you in?

CDSmith 07-22-2004 08:03 AM

On a side-note.... to those who have bashed Canada's health care system on other threads in the past, I say this to you.....

I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed in one shot years ago. The bill.......

What bill?

No charge.

Never..... NEVER.... complain about our great health care system. It rocks.
