If the porn business were a Barnes and Noble bookstore...
Imagine that you own a Barnes and Noble at the mall. Today, more than 30,000 people visited your store, reading the periodicals and perusing the novels. At the end of the day, only two people tried to buy books. The first one was turned down because he didn't have enough money, so you ended up with one lousy sale out of 30,000 visitors to your store that day. Tomorrow, the same thing will happen: people coming into your store reading what they want, some will try to steal the books to read them at home, but in the end only one or two out of 30,000 will end up making a purchase.
If it doesn't make sense in the real world, why do we tolerate it in this business? |
.... cuz I'm not paying $3 a fucking square foot a month and I don't have 20 idiot Bohemians in my employ.

who exactly is "in business" with 1:30,000 conversions?
what idiot said it "makes sense" |
1:30k gallery views isn't too bad of a ratio
now 1:30k clicks is beyond shit |

Because everyone loves free porn!
We all know that TGP galleries should have a minimum of pictures or movies because all the paysites have trailers or previews anyway. So the "surfer should know what he's buying before or have many many samples" excuse is complete bullshit. But TGP's business is based on the traffic, not if the submitter makes money or not. Anyway, it's been discussed ad nauseam. |

The point is that we're offering what is essentially a vast library of porn, and at the end of the day we only get a few paying customers. It's like squeezing a dry lemon to find a few last drops. And the percentage of people willing to pay for porn certainly hasn't increased. |
Goatse,
This is why the industry is the way it is: http://www.eco.nm.ru/LR_eq_perfcompet.htm :glugglug |
