    Question For Australians

    hey guys,

i am about to start a non-adult venture for the australian market and i am looking around at hosting. considering that all traffic will be from australia, is it a MUST to get hosting in australia? hosting in the US is much cheaper but I feel that an australian server will be faster for my surfers and will be better for support.

should i go Oz hosting or US hosting?

Local hosting is desirable, but not a must. A good Australian host will be a bit faster. But most websites are based in the US, so Aussies are used to the minor delay in crossing the oceans

its not essential to get hosting in us
but it WILL be MUCH faster.

for a good aussie host (rated #1 by a few aussie PC mags)
      try www.paradisehost.com

i get faster connections to many US hosts than i do aussie ones, and im in perth (which means all traffic goes via sydney and adelaide before it gets here) so i would go with a US host

A lot of Australian hosts love to trumpet the fact that they're on Australian bandwidth, but the fact is, most of them are shit and you'll get quicker responses from a US server. If you do go Australian, only go with the top hosts, 'cause everything else is shit.

But yeah, US hosting will do the job, and it's the speed we're used to, and it'll make a significant difference on your profit margin. Bandwidth costs down here are ridiculous.
