My Hosting needs ~ give me your deals
 
I don't need much BW this month. I just need to get my portfolio up and the host I had it setup with a couple weeks ago proved to be worthless.

I need a flexible plan though cause next month I will be opening a TGP and maybe even submitting a bit, but my immediate needs are minimal.

My main request is no hosts with ticket systems. I HATE these things. I'm not a noob and know how to run my shit but if I do have a problem I want to know how to get a hold of a live person 24/7 - either by phone or even just icq.

theres a reason some hosts use ticket systems.

in the end it just makes a better service experience for you.

I have had horrible experience with them. You write out a ticket and then wait. Maybe you get an automated email saying your ticket is being processed. Best case scenario, someone gets back to you within a few hours but you're ticket was misunderstood so now you need to fill out another one and the whole process starts over.

I just prefer to have someone I can communicate with so I know my problem is being solved.

ok i understand what you mean, but that all depends on who the host is.


just as an example, our tickets are answered in 5 minutes by a real person.

I understand what you mean from some old host I used to be with. But I can tell you that it's not that way with all hosts. I've been at www.techiemedia.com for a few years now and they do have icq, phone, etc... support, but they also have a ticket system. My tickets usually get done within 5-30 mins tops, unless it's involved with script installs or some weird crap I need done, but in those cases I will use icq or phone. Just remember to stick with a host that has good track record and good references and you will be ok.:2 cents:

Some people like them, some people don't. Webmail is our ticket system since 90% is handled by me anyway, we also have a toll free number: 1-888-500-VIBE and a pager email to wake me up at night.

Thanks for the plug brother. Though I will say that we do run our support off of a ticket system and we wouldn't have it any other way. We need records of what is done and when, it's a benefit to both the client and us.

A good host has a ticket system and available staff. I wouldn't operate without a ticket system. The reason for using one is to hold tech staff accountable for what needs to be done and when it gets done. When you start serving a large client base you simply can't have customers emailing just one tech or sending ICQ messages because there is no accountability.

Makes complete sense Brad and I respect that. I guess that's why I don't want a host that's that big. I prefer someone who is small enough to be able to give each client individual attention.

I know that may be asking for trouble in the long run as smaller hosts may not be as established or as reliable but I'm stuck in my ways. Hopefully I will make the right decision.

Ideally, I will choose the host that is somewhere in the middle. I'm kind of leaning towards the ones with both a ticket and live support systems.
