Bill Gates is no longer the richest in the world...

According to the latest newspaper research, it's the guy who' gradfather founded the Walmart chain back in 1962, the guy is now the CEO of the entire 5,000 store chain worldwide - 60 something billion $$. Never though retail would beat the software industry and it just shows that millionaires (billionaires) on paper (stock holders) are vulnerable to the stock market and the brick and mortar companies win... weird.

the richest man in the world with REAL money. i'm talking cold hard immediate cash and jewels to be used 100% as they want is probably some rich arab fuck in the middle east.

bill gates and this other guy have too much of their wealth tied up in their stocks. they can't go yanking that shit out without ruining it.

The richest people in the world are the people who own the international banks. Where do you think the interest goes that America pays on its dept? You just don't read about them in Forbes.

Bill Gates, the world's richest man with the world's biggest philanthropic war chest at $US24 billion ($A33 billion), has made fighting disease in the developing world his top humanitarian priority.

The Seattle philanthropy spends about $US800 million a year on global health ? nearly the same as the World Health Organisation's annual budget and about as much as the US Agency for International Development gave this year to fight AIDS and other diseases in developing countries.

"I don't think very many people appreciate just how significant this is, in both concept and scope," says Dr William Foege, the former chief of the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention. Foege, who crafted the global strategy that defeated smallpox, now advises Gates.

You and every other dreamer on this board :1orglaugh

NinjaSteve 12-22-2003 11:14 AM

I think Bill should become the richest again. What did we get from Bill Gates? Windows, Microsoft products, xbox, blah blah blah.

What did we get from Wal-Mart? Low prices, and the effect of drpoping about 10 IQ points once you get into the parking lot and another 10 when you go inside the store.
