A matter of Taste?
 

Ok. I've noticed that there are TONS of different ways to make your money in the adult biz. The major ones that I've seen so far are: 1. TGP Site (seems to make its money simply on the HUGE amount of traffic generated). 2. Link List/portal site (traffic doesnt really seem so much of an issue with these types of sites as they tend to attract newer, unexperienced surfers). 3. Networks (tons of small sites which filter traffic into niches where they are presented with sponsors within the niche). There are tons of different ways to apply the network using the smaller sites (i.e. using the whole network to benefit a main site which is the money maker) Are these simply made by people different tastes for marketing or are some more profitable than others? *thinks to himself...jesus I could fill this entire board up with my questions heh* Any and all opinions/comments are welcome here.

Some interesting thoughts. I'd have put TGP's and linklists into the same catagory being that they're really the same idea. (I know 10 of you are itching to say "Link site traffic is better!" - but notice who Tommy and Greenguys top referrers are)

My second catagory would be free content sites - including galleries (as in TG's)

Third would be no content sites - CJ's and pages of nothing but ads.

As for your question I think everyone thinks they're in the most profitable end of the biz. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif But really though, I think most of us are working in different areas. I run a TGP, a CJ, and 2 (kind of) content sites.

Well one thing I really havent seen yet is a "real" portal site. Closest to it might be sublime directory but its kinda different than a full blown portal site. YNOTnetwork isnt really a portal either...just a huge toplist in categories. Why hasnt someone started one? - Nevermind just found sinfoseek.com

Don't forget that with Link List sites it's alot easier to get that search engine traffic (and while tommys and GG do have TGP top referrers, they also do have their fair share of search engine/word of mouth/other_good_traffic referrers (i.e free sites).

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "portal" site. In my mind Sinfoseek is just a link site.
