Mpeg or WMV?
 

If your running a members area , how do you have your videos?

1) what format? mpeg or wmv?

2) whats the bit rate?

1.) both
2.) experiment

I think both is pretty common.

members section I would have them both, just to give the surfer the option.

both and tell surfers wmv is better qualilty and faster downloads

wmv doesn't work with mozilla, what do you guys do?

didnt know many people still have Mozilla? What % do you think?

I use mozilla and I can see wmv vids.

WHat I don't like about wmv is that you can not scroll through the movie...

You can't until it's fully downloaded, but the good part is you don't have to donwload the complete movie before you can view it (streaming). MPEG can't do that.

not true..mpeg is streaming also..movie starts playing right after it buffered it a few %

there's a plug in for the mozilla browser to view wmvs

or just right click save link as

Last time I checked, Mozilla was 14-17% of the market.

However, I think you could play WMV files - maybe not directly in the browser window as with IE but you can always download them and review them. WMV could be streamed too.

It also depends if you want people to download them to their hard drives and then spam the shit out of it through p2p....we dont have mpeg and allow members to download....that way they must keep their memberships to view always....loyalty for exclusive quality content....

Hey Raffster, if you go mpg, how are you going to manage your 2257 compliance under the new regs, with the cross indexing requirements?

I think WMVs videos loads fasters than MPEG.

By the way, i think that offer both is a good option.
