This question is only for webmasters who are getting paid $$

The internet has enabled the wealth of a lot of people who would not traditionally be that likely to get paid.

If you make real money online, do you think you would have been as likely to come into dough without the advent of the net?

Do you feel weird about being paid? For example, do you think you spend your money on different things from what someone at your income level normally would? Do you have trouble spending money on yourself? Does everyone you know ask you to buy them stuff? Do you have trouble spending money on things that last i.e. real estate vs. cars vs. drinks for the whole bar?

Being 21 years old with no real qualifications I don't see myself earning the money I do online anywhere else in the world to be honest. I dropped out of college, I wasn't the smartest in school but I make nice money doing this.....A lot more than anyone in my family does working except one aunt who is kinda loaded!

I spend my money on clothes, holidays, going out with my girlfriend for dinner, my car and some other shit. To answer your question, no I don't find myself buying stuff I wouldn't buy if I worked as something else.

Good point. I suppose another way to approach the question would be do you think you are making above average bank for your age?

pornguy 07-18-2004 10:38 AM

I bought bread and butter.

Does that count for anything??

For sure. Earning money is just a state of mind.Money is there for the taking, it's everywhere and there is loads of it.

Do you have trouble spending money on yourself?

yes,alot.

Does everyone you know ask you to buy them stuff?

nope,not alot. but it happens.

Do you have trouble spending money on things that last i.e. real estate vs. cars vs. drinks for the whole bar?

I have a very hard time spending something on things that depreciate. (cars,parties..) but I'm spending almost all my money in real estate/startups/reinvesting. I know I will regret the fact that I maybe am holding back from living 100%, but I can't imagine blowing loads of cash on toys/luxury.

psyko514 07-18-2004 12:11 PM

i'm definetly making above average income for my age. i'm 21 and most people my age i know are in university right now.

i know i could make enough money offline, but to make the amount i'm making now, it would take a few years of working my way up the ladder.

as for spending my money, i definetly have trouble spending my money on items that last, especially big ticket items. i pretty much spend all my spare cash (after rent, bills, etc) on food, entertainment and my girlfriend.

I used to be open about it, but I'm tired of people asking me endless questions... and the inevitable comment of "I always wanted to start a porno business, because I know tons of bitches."

I feel I would be a money maker regardless. I'm the type that was born and knew that there are many ways to make money. By age 5 I was already watching the news for "financial advice" for lord knows what reason. I always had an interest in money...Maybe because it's something that my family didn't have a lot of. Regardless, I always found a way to make money and invest earnings into more money making ventures. It started with candy sales on the bus. HAHAHA!

Do you feel weird about being paid? For example, do you think you spend your money on different things from what someone at your income level normally would?

I feel that my spendings reflect my earning level. I'm not the type to blow cash i don't have, nor am I the type to go to a normal restaurant and not pick up the tab.

Do you have trouble spending money on yourself?

No. In general, I make a trip to the mall once a month to spoil myself and buy new clothes, shoes, etc. It's a small fee and a way to reward myself for my hard work. I always set a budget and it's more often that I don't even meet that budget.

Does everyone you know ask you to buy them stuff?

How did you know? I have quite a few friends who think I should always buy drinks, pay for everybody's cover charges, dinner, etc. just because I make a decent amount. I also notice a lot of my girlfriend's friends talking to her about "how rich" I am, which is so far from the truth. they always say stupid shit and say "Why don't you buy that for her? you've got enough money.". My GF is SOOOO far from a gold digger that it's sick. She works her own job and makes her own money.

Do you have trouble spending money on things that last i.e. real estate vs. cars vs. drinks for the whole bar?

I have a primary home being built as well as an investment property. I've paid all cash and I have no credit card balances. I also just purchased a new car that I love! That's about as far as my spending goes. In the future, I want to invest in more property, accumulate more in my stock portfolio and diversify my investments even more. I'm all about making money and turning it in to even more! :thumbsup

i'd probally be making more with my own financial business (which i owned before), road construction company or law practice, but i wouldn't be having more fun.

Basic_man 07-18-2004 12:16 PM

I don't waste my money

AVM 07-18-2004 12:19 PM

Internet didn't instill within myself ambition, motivation, integrity, and a business mentality. Thus, I will conclude - Regardless of the medium being monetized upon, I would still have made it. As would the majority of users on GFY currently making money.

KRL 07-18-2004 12:27 PM

I started making money before the personal PC even existed, let alone the Internet.

Bottom line entrepreneurs can make money with any set of tools, be they primitive or be they advanced.

You should never become dependent on anything for a way to make money. The very nature of technology lends itself to ever evolving change. What is today will be radically different 20 years from now.

Just master the skills of creating something and selling it. Once you have those two essential skills down pat you can make money no matter what, in any kind of business endeavor.

and LEAVERAGING your time. i found that to be more essential than ANYTHING for the difference between making good money and great money.

psyko514 07-18-2004 12:31 PM

i'm amazed that a lot of you guys have friends who ask you to buy/pay things for them. not a single one of my friends do that.

hell, i have a hard enough time spending money on my girlfriend. i almost have to beg her to let me spend cash on her.

WicKed NinJas 07-18-2004 01:12 PM

yes I still would make the money I do but I wouldnt have as much fun and it would probably be illegal.

Congrats but can I ask why you would pay cash for two houses when you could better leverage that money and get 10 investment properties? Rates are still really low.

I had to drop a friend because of that.. she was a greedy little bitch who thought I should pay for her just because she mismanaged her money and I had a decent amount.

Without the interent porn I would still be making money doing something.

Also with 3 ex wifes and 4 kids all my money is kind of tied up.
doesn't leave much left over for too many luxuries.

Pornopat 07-18-2004 05:58 PM

I was actually in my 3rd of my 5 year business plan when I discovered internetporn.
I would have succeeded in the mainstreambusiness as well but my life would be less interesting. And I think the load I need to work hard for now will come in easier in time.

pat 07-18-2004 06:30 PM

Being a generous person before you earn money does you no favours unless your friends progress at the same speed.

Unfortunately for me, mine did not.

I still find cash to spend on gadgets for myself though, and to answer the question properly - no... I would have to work harder than I am willing to, to earn 6 figures in a corporate job.
