New Fiber Optics... Cheap bandwidth.
 

Hi,

Ok. What I'm wondering is if 5 years from now. Or 2 years from now, if the telephone companies lay down some new Fiber Optic lines that can pass 1000 times the traffic through them and bandwidth prices drop by 1000 fold. Are we going to offer high quality 200MB videos to try and get surfers to sign up for porn?

I mean right now an argument that big TGPs have for not posting high quality movies is that the bandwidth is too expensive.
What if it wasn't?
If they net floods with high quality videos how could anyone sell porn?

This is a serious question, because we offer tons and tons of free high quality porn for no reason at all.
I mean why doesn't a TGP link to 10 galleries a day. Instead of 300?

If TGP traffic is so good, then I'm confused over the following questions:
1. Why does The Hun sell advertising instead of trying to convert sales himself? (Sorry to single you out Hun)

2. Why do TGP posters use free hosts?

3. Why do some of them use per click sponsors?

4. Why doesn't the TGP host all 300 galleries himself? Why send all that quality traffic to someone else who is going to profit off it?


One thing I've always respected about AmateurPages is that they show no bush and the pics are not overly large.

Thoughts please.

I think it will go wireless soon,so video will be a big thing soon.I saw a slide show thing that looked interesting for Tech that now available I will look into this.Most TGP's use the first top 5 spots for themselfs (well I do )You make more with this than the banners until you get some real traffic.

A: cause it is gaurenteed income and they are lineing up out the door, not mention sportsbooks are picking up on the action.

2. Why do TGP posters use free hosts?

A: because they haven't realized that they can make more money from hosting them there self. or they want to just promote there own tgp or site.

Because They don't know how to convert or they dont have decent traffic.

because making 300 galleries a day for different niches is almost impossible. let alone the cost for that much content. And they can make cash selling them.

beacuse a per-click program evens out fluctuations in your per-sign up revenue, if you ain't big in traffic.

It's reassuring to have a fairly steady income. As for the sign-up programs, some weeks can be really shitty. If I had 50K worth of traffic to play with, instead of 15K, the law of great numbers would see to it that my sign-up programs returned a steady cash flow with only small fluctuations. Thing is, some people are better at selling and some people are better at getting clicks. It has to do with a lot of things. If one was "clear-cut" better than the other, people would stop fucking with the other.

Theoretically it should come out the same given time.

I realize that people without a lot of traffic want to use per click for the statistical reasons.

But with my experience per click programs cause 2 things.
1. Your ratio is really good, that means you are getting ripped off with the 4 or 5 cents you get per click.

2. Your ratio is really bad, that means that the sponsor is getting ripped off and then they wind up not paying.

Actually, it's true that in the long run, bandwidth costs with drop by 90%+. It will have a signifanct effect on everything.

Of course, everyone will have broadband and will USE a lot more bandwidth too.

back in the days, I thought my 400 meg drive would last me 2 years... it lasted 2 months..

6-9 months ago, I thought I would have enough of 50gigs of HD.... I'm currently trying to find room to store my server backups....

on the hun question, it's sometimes alot to handle 1 million visitor, as well as 20,000+ members all by yourself.... that's why hun uses other people's pay sites, it's division of labour at its best, BUT he looses potential money...

I.E the best is to have everything run by yourself... Hosting, Tgp, Paysite, Content provider... but that is a hard and highly ressource consuming task..
