Marriott just fucked me ouch

I got my phone bill for calls from Rio to the US... $1000. they charge $13.50 per minute. I have made calls from several hotels and it is in the $1/minute range. Yep highway robbery but nothing to get up in arms over. This is a total BS way to treat a customer. They could teach porn sites a thing or two.

I only stay at Marriott hotels. I find them to be very helpful
and friendly. I also always read the phone info before I use it .
If there is no cost info call the desk.
Most hotels have an outside company handle there phone systems and you get there billing prices.

If you have an issue you should send them a letter.
Letters are the only way they to know what to change in the future, And how you feel.

You CAN NOT bad month a company if you have done nothing to better the issues at hand.

Just my 2 cents ......LOL

I have 1 suggestion for you: since there is broadband @ that hotel - you should get a vonage box and bring it in your bag when you travel: http://www.vonage.com/?refer_id=rolxe

ZanyCash Larry 07-17-2004 04:24 PM

That is robbery :(

blazi 07-17-2004 04:26 PM

$1/min compared to $13/min is quite a difference, I'd be sending them a letter or something!

slapass 07-17-2004 04:28 PM

I had broadband set up and used it. Yep should have used it to voice over. I call Rio to the US lots of times from hotels and the cost is high but in the $1/minute area. It sucks but it saves time typing in 50 digits to use the credit card feature.

Just a heads up but of course I have taken this up with them. They know how i feel at this point.

$13.50 a minute, what the fuck ?

they suck

For $1000 you could have made a trip to the US, spend a day or two, talk to whoever you want, and return to your hotel.

Or you can just use the fone...

Did you know that there are cellphones these days?

hova 07-18-2004 07:01 AM

I'll NEVER pick up a phone in the hotel unless it's to call the front desk..Most cellphones worth a damn have free long distance..

But he was in Rio so the cell phone idea goes out the window anyway.

slapass 07-18-2004 07:30 AM

Verizon and ATTWireless do not work there. You need to use one of the local companies and then get a long distance card.

I know that just dialling is usually spendy. I also know that I called them for .13/minute to bitch about them charging me $13.50 per minute. I expected about a 10 times mark up and was just shocked as fuck they went 100 times.
I had a massage when I was there and yep I did not look for the price. I also used the mini bar. You expect it to be spendy but within reason. I don't price everything I do before I do it as i like convenience of being able to do things. Getting robbed for it seems like bad business for Marriott.

Giorgio_Xo 07-18-2004 08:12 AM

That is unreasonable. I wouldn't pay.

Crank up the heat against Marriot by reporting it to the media.

VirtuMike 07-18-2004 08:26 AM

Every time you put a 2257 notice on your site, Marriott fucks you.

Every time you read an article about a webmaster getting prosecuted, Marriott fucks you.

Every time you have to ask yourself, "Is this legal?", Marriott fucks you.

Take a look at where the money goes and how it is converted into taking away your rights. I don't stay at Marriotts anymore since realizing that.
