How much bandwidth do I need??

As the newbie I am, Im still using a freehost. But ofcourse the thought has crossed my mind that I should get a pay host. The problem is that I dont have any idea about how much bandwidth I might need = how much it would cost.
Maybe some of you guys/girls could give me your examples, let me know these numbers bandwidth/visitors/storage, then I might could get an idea about this.

Thanx!

It really depends on what type of sites you are planning to develop...

fever, you have to do some calculations on your own here.

no. of daily visitors * the size of all files (html + graphics) residing on your site (in KiloBytes) = Maximal transfer for a day

This is just a theoretical upper limit. Usually the surfer won't download all the files to his or her browser. As a rule of thumb, divide the result by two to get a hint of the actual bandwidth need.

Here's the answer he's looking for.

10 k visitors equals around 1 gig, but of course it really depends though. 1 gig will cost you about 4 to 5 dollars.

I'll give you the scenerio on how I started when I moved to a pay host from a free host.

I moved a little at a time, so that I would have an idea on how much bandwidth to use.

First I started on an "unlimited bandwidth" (shared-virtual) host then moved to a pay per bandwidth host, then from virtual to dedicated servers.

Autson.com used to have a good deal 10 domains on a shared host 40 gig per month for 40 bucks a month, it might be more than that now, but that is a pretty good way to start, consider that you only have to sell 2-3 memberships in a month to pay for the hosting

It won't do tgp traffic, but I would not suggest you do that unless you have really good experince with paid hosting for a number of months, then you can try opting for a more expensive plan
