When do you consider someone...

a "porn star"? Do you base it on the number of scenes shot? The quality of scenes? Name recognition?

What is your personal basis for considering someone a porn STAR versus just someone who shoots porn scenes?

SleazyDream 07-16-2004 11:45 PM

someone's a star when they act like it - like kayla does :thumbsup

it can be on their first scene

Babagirls 07-16-2004 11:49 PM

edit: (read the question wrong)

a porn STAR? hmmm.....when mainstream media know how that person is.

HAHAHAHAHA! Thanks!

The reasons I am asking is I am not sure if/when to start advertising in the porn star arena versus the amateur arena

Start when it makes sense to....Financially.

sean416 07-17-2004 12:23 AM

I always thought a porn star was someone who stars in the scene. Like if this was the script to a movie:

Secretary: Mr Johnson, you're new trainee is here to see you.

Mr Johnson: Send her in!

*trainee enters*

Mr Johnson: Now get over here and suck my dick bitch

Mr Johnson & the trainee would be the porn stars where as the secretary is just the adult film model. Well, that is assuming the secretary doesnt turn it into a wild threesome.. then she'd be a star too in my books. :banana

TheJimmy 07-17-2004 12:24 AM

I'd consider it like Roy Jones...

where do I fight best and pull in the most dollars per fight?

which weight class....and go with that...

where are you gonna score knockouts more? and where are your checks gonna be phatter...

:2 cents:

Gee, so fucking profound...

tony286 07-17-2004 09:36 AM

I think the word pornstar is thrown around too easy. Its like if your in a movie does that automatically make you a movie star? To me a pornstar is Jenna, Jesse Jane where people who dont even watch it know who they are.

I guess a star (including porno) must have a good reputation in their bussiness, they should be commonly known by both people in their branch and by "outside people", and should be very good on what their doing.

Promotion also plays a big role. If a certain person in promoted more than the others, than that certain person will get more stars :-)

Jman 07-17-2004 10:54 AM

The only people that will make you become a star are your fans, the public.

If you stuff sells and if you are in demande you are a Star.

It's same as in Showbizz.... You can be the most talented singer in the world if no one buys your songs you ain't shit.

I would say winning Amateur of the Year Makes You Kayla someone that is appreciate and in demand so you defenitly on the right path Babe. In my book you are a Shinning One ;-)

:2 cents:

I think you're missing the point here kiddies...

She's asking when is she considered not an amateur anymore and needs to list herself as a professional adult actress...

I would say as soon as you have your pic on a box cover you are a professional and not considered an amateur anymore.

I'm sure there are other stipulations but that's a good place to start :thumbsup

You're soooo smart!
I totally agree.

Adultnet 07-17-2004 01:25 PM

It is based on popularity and sales

BradM 07-17-2004 01:27 PM

Hello!

NoCarrier 07-17-2004 01:27 PM

The girl becomes a porn star once she's dancing naked, treated like a whore and humiliated in front of fat greasy drunk adult webmasters at convention parties.

Arousal Design 07-17-2004 01:29 PM

you'll KNOW when you're a pornstar.

but i'd say a pornstar is someone who most normal people know of.

a professional vs. amateur vs. pornstar are totally different things.

Advertise in both, starting right now! :thumbsup

Your site still has major amateur appeal, years of your reputation and and the bulk of your content are founded on that, The lifestyle they see on your cams is in line with an amateur (not a porn star), and you are running your site yourself. Amateur isn't something you should dump on technicalities based on what other webmasters think, it's a niche you belong in based on what surfers and members want. If a few people think you're too much of a porn STAR then they can just fucking cancel -- other people looking for real solo girl sites will be happy to have found you based on your "amateurity".

All of us running our own single girl "amateur" sites are used to having a LOT of members who really WANT to be able to see us in non-amateur porn films.

While you're still (and will always be) an amateur in my book (unless you dump your cams and your old content and totally change your persona), you are also a porn star in the making -- advertise as such and take advantage of every marketing opportunity presented to you. Good luck!

For the purposes of internet advertising Kayla can market herself as a porn star AND an amateur. While the name recognition thing is a good gauge of stardom, the truth is from the very first moment someone with a computer rents or buys a movie Kayla is in, she is a porn star to him and will probably expect to find her presented in that way when he sits down to google her.

You have "starred" in porn so in my book, you can call yourself a porn star if that's what you want to do, Kayla. You do not have to reach Jenna heights to call yourself whatever the fuck you want.
