and when you start thinking about it - what do you think? :)

Repetitive Monkey 07-16-2004 02:44 PM

I wouldn't doubt it, but provide some more information, examples, or thoughts to start this thread off.

smack 07-16-2004 02:45 PM

well, when i start thinking about the only reason i can come up with is the holocaust. but that's old news.

i went to germany and austria a few years back. people are very friendly there. so i dunno, from my perspective at least there are no grudges.

considering in WWII they had the choice of remaining ignorant, and listening to their government spewed propaghanda, OR being hauled off by the death's head, i dunno if you can hate them for that....

self preservation i suppose.

ok, that's great. 60-70% of my time I deal with US or Canadian customers and I never had the feeling that I am not liked because I come from the "wrong" country.

but my concern is, that there are still some prejudices out there what keep people from dealing with me. :(

WWII Germany was in full social, cultural, and economical bloom, and supported its native people to the fullest.

But now fortunately everything has changed for the better and it has lots of Jews, blacks, arabs, social expenditures, crime, whining, and other such treasures of MultiCult.

I don't like some people and some opinions, but I wouldn't try to suppress them like people of your ilk tend to get off on.

But I am cheering for MultiCult, in spite of pesky things such as fact and reason! What more could you want of me? :(

because discussing with you is like trying to convince a stone to take part in a 100 m run at the olympic games. I saw that last time - it's a waste.

gxer 07-16-2004 04:09 PM

about what history period you talking about ?
in general ? last 20 years ? last 100 years? last 300 years?

you'll hear different oppinions about every time period.

last 30 years germans are OK , but before ... - i doubt you'll here
any good words from Poland for example or Czech, but again - now they are good neighbours, how much time it will be ?
who knows ...

that's the true if you wanna hear .
And don't ask Americans about germans, they just know them exactly as they know arabs.

futile, yes, I think that's the word for that

The german as a people are extremely xenophobic and, although it's been tried, could never be subjugated or 'assimilated'.

After centuries of bloody warfare, they brought the Roman Empire to its knees and assumed the mantle of world power, effectively becoming the Holy Roman Empire.

It was German Saxons that crushed whatever was left in the British Isles after the Romans ducked tails and ran, it was germanic Vikings that ravished the Europe not yet claimed by the Holy Roman Empire.

After one of the most unfair verdict after WWI it took less than 20 years for Germany to snap back, dominate and conquer virtually all of Europe and after yet another catastrophic defeat after WWII Germany, albeit with help from US capital, emerged as one of the top 7 world economic powers in less than 50 years.

For over 2000 years, the german soldier was maybe one of the most fearsome warrior, a very effective killing machine. Time and time again led by poweful, charismatic leaders the german warmachine crushed its enemies and dominated the world. One of its greatest legacies is the language we are speaking here today, and is maybe one of the most influential languages in the world, English is a germanic language.

no, no problem, i'm past the point of trying to insult you. everytime you're posting your nonsense you proudly show why you got yourself that nick. that's enough - I do not have to add something

You should probably add how we, or rather you, got into this in the first place. You aren't capable of normal discussion and exchange of opinions, and insult people with different opinions as a drop-in for producing at least some argumentation. In fact, you aren't even capable of insulting, though genuinely trying, no doubt. It's so sweet, in a mad-hamster-with-no-teeth kind of way. :1orglaugh

probably you should refresh your brain a bit - you might remember some discussions before today. and it was not just me who was trying to discuss with you - and we all gave up because it is not possible. But I must admit that you are good in what you are doing - what a waste of intelligence. what would you be able to reach if you were not that bullheaded with your political bullshit. :(

who knows ...

In the late '80's, I was a kid working in construction. Many companies used cheap labor from Europe, and one job I worked on was loaded with Polish workers.

They used to tell me to forget about Russia, but they were seriously stressed about Germany becoming united. They said if The Wall came down, Germans would be marching within 5 years. And they were scared shitless of that prospect.

Thankfully, Ze Germans are chillin, just like the rest of the EU.
