What is the appeal of being a "Goth?"
 

Is it just an offshoot of D&D geekdom? I don't get it.

It's something people do so that they can delude themselves into thinking people don't like them because of the way they dress instead of their disgusting physical appearance.

The pictures and discussion seems to be more about hair color and fashion than punk rock or rough sex. Most of the girls seem to be either fag hags or clam bakers.
Most of the guys seem either gay or confused.

Either way the site refuses to define itself. What's the real scoop?

Read the thread, and read my replies and you notice how I don't mention goths once, but do mention norwegian heavy metal.

We all embrace certain elements of fashion. We all choose how we clothe ourselves. It is, on a basic level, a form of artistic expression.

Some people are truly original. Those are the rare Picassos. (And I'm sure they get ridiculed most of all) But most people embrace existing trends.

"Not caring" does not exclude you from the above. Unless you live naked, your "look" is a choice.

Their hypocracy humors me. Even their crowned leader Marilyn Manson when you get past all the antics and selling tactics speaks out against sheepishness yet his followers who scream at the top of their lungs about how we non goths should not judge him but listen to his words do not hear it. I find that it is the opposite of not enough hugs from mommy and daddy, most of these kids come from suburbonite protistant communities from 130k+ homes. Mommy and daddy babied the shit out of them and did not teach them about reality and this is their little way of dealing with the world around them. Blame others and bitch about the "hardships" and how "no one understands" them. I would like to bring some of them to inner city schools or 3rd world countries so they can see what hardship is. I compare them to a twisted version of the hippies of the 60's, nothing is new under the sun it seems.

it's the chance to hang out with your peers who are physically and emotionally abused, junkies and troubled people.

it's also a good chance for ugly people to try to make you believe they are ugly by choice and to let you know that they reject you first.
