Las Vegas webmasters - PacMan for sale

ever since I built my MAME arcade cabinet, I havent touched my PacMan, and dont see the need to keep it.

its an original 1980 cabinet, monitor has been re-capped, original board plus a quasi multiboard so it plays both pacman and ms pacman plus speed mod for either or normal speed. Been recently checked out by a local tech and everything is working great. Nice collectable for an upscale gameroom or living room. Lets do $950 or best offer :)

I finished the base for the x-arcade panel, which i have decided is too small so i ordered a really cool control panel from slikstik, but I havent put in the marquee & marquee light yet

but here is a pic from right after I moved it into the house and just had the x-arcade panel sitting on 2 boards

the pacman is sitting next to it in the corner. I'm running out of room :(

Good deal. I have always wanted a Tempest cabinet. Good luck with the sale....

I gotta head to ebay:Graucho

Mr Pheer 07-15-2004 04:15 AM

if you want Tempest you are better off building a mame cabinet. The old Atari color vector monitors were very bad about going out, and have been known to start fires.

Yeah, there's a few on ebay and they all look pretty beat up except one that has had new everything installed including monitor and spinner. He wants 1500.

I already have all the games in mame so it would probably be better to take your advice. There's just something about having the real deal though. Takes me back to high school, hanging out at Putt Putt with my acid wash jeans. It's that appeal that makes these things still worth a grand+

I built that black cabinet in the picture myself. Got a Happs 27inch VGA monitor, P3-700 running mame32 with over 4200 roms. Rockford Fosgate speakers, 60watt amp. plus DVD and xbox. Total invested about $1200 (not including the computer and xbox, I already had those) and about 4 months working in my spare time. i wasnt in a hurry, triple checked everything as i went along, and the cabinet turned out great. Its ok to play mame on your PC, but build a cabinet and watch your friends drool when they see it.

Great to see another classic game collector... we're a dying breed :)

I'm in the process of putting together a MAME cab as well - started with a dedicated Mortal Kombat 4 cab that I picked up for a couple hundred - fully functional but kind of beat up. The fighter cabs make great MAME cabs because of their monitor size and the size of the control panel.

I then picked up an Arcade VGA card to directly interface with the arcade monitor from the PC -- but haven't had time to hook everything up yet. Basically all sitting in parts waiting for some time to tackle the job.

If somebody does pickup MrPheer's Pac cabinet... a nice addition might be the Multi-Pac unit which plays all 24 versions of Pacman that worked on that same hardware (Pacman, Ms. Pacman, Pacman Plus, Pengo, etc..).

I think they had to stop manufacturing the Multi-Pac units because Namco started giving them heat... but you can still find them around.

This is the perfect way to check if ebay will track your sales :)

MrPheer,

I see you have a slot machine there...

I have a Pachislo (Duel Dragon) LCD machine.

Do you have any idea how to lower the volume?

There are a whole lot of controls on the inside but everything is in Chinese.

And I can't locate a manual online anywhere that gives specific instructions or a location of volume control.

I would start by finding the speaker, and then trace the wires back and hopefully it goes to a volume switch. If it goes to a circuit board instead, try seeing what else goes to that board also and maybe you can find the volume switch that way. I have 2 slot machines and both are totaly different inside.

Michele R. 07-15-2004 03:40 PM

Thanks for the tips.

I tried tracing the wires this morning and they go to a board but it's really hard to get in there and see if there's some type of control switch.

By default these are set to maximum volume and it really kills the enjoyment when it's so loud.

Thanks for your help though :)

I have a cocktail table DigDug machine.

I like both, but I prefer the upright cabinet just because I can have a huge monitor (mine is 27 inches) and some awesome sound, plus more room for stuff inside like an xbox, and room for a larger control panel.

I love table pacman- it really takes me back to old school pizzarias. Mmmmmmmmm.. pizza.
I REALLY want a stand up Ninja Gaiden- maybe someday.... I just don't like the idea of buying something big ticket like that, having someone ship it half way across the country and having it be busted. Maybe someone local will majically have one for sale. I never beat that game, and it broke my heart that they made a new one only for Xbox and not PS2 :(
