Say bad stuff about Bush lose your job

4 more years of Bush and the USA will be worse then the USSR ever was.

crockett 07-14-2004 04:52 PM

jesus.. how much more shit can go on.. of course that a company desicion but what ever happened to free speech.

riosluts 07-14-2004 04:54 PM

what did she say exactly. All it says on that website is
The New York Post said of Goldberg's appearance at the event: "Waving a bottle of wine, she fired off a stream of vulgar sexual wordplays on Bush's name in a riff about female genitalia."

doober 07-14-2004 04:55 PM

Can it get any worse?
the shit is truly hitting the fan in the USA.

AndrewKanuck 07-14-2004 04:55 PM

Yay for freedom.

Fizzgig 07-14-2004 04:58 PM

Why is she wearing a HUGE sweater (shirt, rather) in her slim fast ad?
That's really weird.

Yes Bush is sooooo fucking good for American adult webmasters. it's not lie he wants to put us out of business or in jail or anything.

benc 07-14-2004 05:02 PM

People have no clue how consumer based mainstream things are. These companies try super hard not to piss anyone off so they sell the most product. So when you have your spokesperson make a bunch of these type of comments, its bad for business because some people won't buy product because of her.

NickHimself34 07-14-2004 05:09 PM

Come on guys, do you really want to see Whoopi Goldberg any more than you have to?

exactly. I'm a Bush hater, and this is not a case of someone going to a political rally for Kerry and then showing up to their 9-5 and getting the can.

This is someone who is being paid to represent a company to millions of people through the media...both conservative, and liberals alike.

She mouthed off in a very public way...congrats for her. I applaud her and her talents...but that's the price of her job...so are morality clauses etc.

Dagwolf 07-14-2004 05:27 PM

Comedy, of which satire and political humor, ARE her job. All she lost was an ad endorsement.

Mike Okitch 07-14-2004 05:27 PM

Goldberg is a comedian and for those who listened to her routines, it's well known that she uses language that can be seen as offensive to some.

It's also well known that she does NOT like Reagan, Bush Sr or Dubya. I clearly remember a routine where she suggested that people must have been high when they voted for Reagan.

Now I'm not exactly the kind of guy who follows her career that closely. But if I know that about her, surely the guys at SlimFast knew it and a lot more before giving her the gig. Wouldn't the folks at SlimFast think "wait a minute, that girl told jokes about Reagan fucking people up the ass before, is this a good move?" I would think that they did and turned a blind eye to it. Now they fire her because she did what she's always been doing. SlimFast sucks.

parts of her reply from CNN:
Quote:

.
Goldberg responded with a statement released through her publicist.

The statement said she understands why the company felt it needed to respond to its consumers, given all the press attention it received.

"But it saddens me that people who were not present at the fund-raiser, including anyone from Slim-Fast and others who have not seen the material for themselves but are only reacting to soundbites produced by the media, have opted to judge my 'conduct,' " Goldberg's statement said.

"I've done material on every president in the past 20 years, from Reagan to Carter, from Clinton to Bush. I have used portions of the material I did at the fund-raiser in shows, speeches and even on national television and it seems now that people from the other side are using this to further their own agenda," her statement continued.

"I only wish that the Republican re-election committee would spend as much time working on the economy as they seem to be spending trying to harm my pocketbook."

Goldberg said she wished "godspeed" to Slim-Fast and its users and hoped "that everything will be better digested, now that I'm no longer representing them."

I'd say that was a class statement from her. She has bashed 'em all, I've seen her do it. Dems and Republicans just like Leno and Letterman and a bunch of others. Sure most lean to the left, but slim fast knew that going in...

It's back in the USSR with this Bushovski. Only it's called USA: thousands of people locked up all over the world without any form of process, systematic torturing, invading countries based on lies, ...
Stalin would have like it a lot.

Tom_PMs 07-15-2004 07:31 AM

This was a *Private* fundraiser.

They have no obligation to create or release a transcript because the republican side wants to smear a celebrity lmao!

Typical Republican priorities at work in America!! :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

fishhead 07-15-2004 07:33 AM

fuck george bush.

Now hopefully i can fire myself and go on unemployment.

jennym 07-15-2004 07:41 AM

Why does everyone always scream "Free Speech" in a situation like this? Do you people know what free speech means?

It does not give you the right to say whatever you want WITHOUT CONSEQUENCES. Of course she had every right to give her opinion, or say whatever she wanted to say, BUT a PRIVATE company also has the right to say "you have offended people who give us money, so you are no longer paid to be a spokesperson for us"

What the fuck does this have to do with George Bush?

Gee, can you get smeared with your own words?
I guess if you're a half wit liberal you can.:1orglaugh

you're right child, they have no obligation to release anything. Nor does slimfast have an obligation to keep a spokesperson too stupid to not embarrass her self and their product in public.
Public vulgarity works well with the teenage crowd (note its support here) but it doesn't go over very well where it counts.
:thumbsup
