Lakers are better off without that big cry baby

:thumbsup

D-Money 07-14-2004 01:33 PM

You, you might be right on that. At first I was really upset, but then I realized if the Lakers kept him, he'd show up out of shape and scorned at the front office. Lakers don't need that, that kind of attitude spreads like a cancer.

It will be fun to watch Miami lose games with Shaq at the foul line.

The Lakers still need another big man though.

okny 07-14-2004 01:35 PM

I could careless about the lakers now, I want to see KG take his team to the championship next year and that's it, the rest i could care less about.

Strife 07-14-2004 01:36 PM

Kobe is a much bigger cry baby...He is the reason why Shaq and Jackson are gone.

Both of them are cancers..I wouldn't want either of them on my team

Joesho 07-14-2004 01:37 PM

KOBE is going to prison...

Everybody hates on Kobe but he is the best one on one player in the NBA so get your facts straight.

Young team, but hey anything can happen.

KDizzla 07-14-2004 01:53 PM

He will be missed.. Sporting my purple and gold just wont be the same. :(

howard 07-14-2004 01:54 PM

Man--you people are so naive..

That was the worse move the Lakers could do. Kobe is great but is replaceable.

Shack is not replacable. The only reason the Lakers lost to Detroit was injuries.

Lakers should have kept Shavk and let kobe go. every player in the NBA wants to play with Shack.

No one wants to Play with Kobe.

Shack along with any other allstar and an ok surrounding cast could win an NBA chapionship on any give year..

Lakers are done for the next 5 years or so with or without KOBE..

Welcome to the world of mediocrity!!!!

mal 07-14-2004 02:13 PM

kobe is going to the clippers. lakers = owned.

Sosa 07-14-2004 02:19 PM

shaq leaving the lakers will hurt more then kobe leaving the lakers.

Vitasoy 07-14-2004 02:38 PM

If kobe does not resign... lakers are doomed.

mal 07-14-2004 03:01 PM

the lakers have no true center(brian grant will get owned in the west). derek fisher and gary payton may be leaving. karl malone and rick fox may be retiring. devean george just had ankle surgury. kobe is probably going to the clippers. the shaq trade will go down as one of the worst trades in nba history!

I really hope not!

I have a feeling that Grant is actually going to be shipped off somewhere for another player. The trick with him was taking on a contract that is not easily tradable. Lets hope that he is not their final answer for a big man in the middle.

IF that happens that would be a true statement sir.

And the reverse is also true, if the Clippers don't get Kobe, then the Clippers = owned.

Noon tomorrow, we'll know for sure.

Mojo Rizin 07-14-2004 04:40 PM

I am not a huge fan of Shaq after this offseason.. but..

The only thing thats going to be worse then facing Shaq is facing a motivated shaq.

Shaq + Penny = swept

Shaq + Nick + Eddie = swept x2

... and those were the years when shaq was worth his money...

it wasnt until Kobe developed did Shaq get any rings... true shaq is irreplaceable ... but at his age and declining game.. u've got to start to ask yourself the $30mil question...

sicone 07-14-2004 04:55 PM

Shaq went to the east cuz he felt there is too much competition in the west. The east only has a few strong teams and he thinks he will dominate, unlike the west who is full of strong teams built to defend against Shaq:2 cents:

4Pics 07-14-2004 04:56 PM

Lakers are Doomed!

<IMX> 07-14-2004 05:21 PM

You're nuts. Penny was way overrated...is he even in the league now? Nick and Eddie...where are they now?

Teams literally build around trying to stop shaq, and he still gets his points.

Kobe is replaceable...every year the next MJ comes out of college or high school. No center has been actively compared to shaq yet.

In fact, detroit showed how easy it is to stop Kobe.

The Shaq part I will agree to, but a new MJ comes out of high school or college every year?

Name one that has come out since MJ?

The closest thing would be Kobe based on his age and championships, and even he still isn't up to MJ level yet.

I see your point if you just saying lot's of good players come out every year, I'll buy that one. But MJ?

Man, watching MJ play, you knew he would win certain games. Like if someone talks trash the week before about him, he'd get 45 points or better. If it's a must win game, he'd take over and find a way to win. Using both team strategeies or just MJ vs. the other team. No player has had that mentality and physical game since.

Shaq is unique, one of a kind. One day there will be another Shaq, but don't expect it to happen soon. He'll be missed in LA for sure.

I'm cool with keeping Kobe over Shaq, tough call for sure. Kobe can still learn to play as a team, just like Jordan took years to learn that. So at Kobe's age and experience, he could be the next Jordan, but he still has to win the championship at least 2 more times. AND a league scoring title a shit load of times as well.

Not as owned as if the Lakers lost Kobe. The Clippers aren't losting any star players if they don't get Kobe. If Kobe leaves the lakers than they'll be as bad as the Bobcats next season.

<IMX> 07-14-2004 06:00 PM

It was just a bit of hyperbole ;)

Every year a new phenom player is actively compared to MJ. Most of them have the talent, but few have had the luck/skill/drive to succeed in the long term. And let's face it, the league is more competitve right now than it was in the 80s early 90s.

But even then, there was Clyde the Glide from Phi Slamma Jamma, Bernand King, James Worthy, Bird, Johnson, Vinnie Microwave used to do damage in detroit. So, MJ was the shit, but there are plenty of players that have the potential and ABILITY to do the same.

No one has compared shaq to any living or dead player since high school / college freshman. Every active center / power forward combination in the W. Coast was selected with the exception of the clippers to try to handle shaq. PPL used to think of Wilt as the ideal dominate center until Shaq.

Shaq is a fuckin freak of nature 7'2" 360 pounds and nimble...His first season nobody could defend him and he lead the league in FG % all on dunks.

And the Magic with Shaq, no matter how unseasoned and or lucky went through the bulls and MJ like butter.

Kobe no matter how hard he tries isn't MJ, his rings were won on the basis of shaq's success not his own. We'll see if Kobe is worth the hype next season, if he doesn't go to jail. But physically, and even in terms of skills there are a few players every year in the DRAFT that can compete with Kobe et. al.

What's more it really isn't a decsion of strictly shaq v. Kobe. as far as the lakers were concerned. 60Mil is a ton of loot to pay in a few years of rebuilding.

You really think Kobe is going to learn how to be a team player when now he really will be the team? He had 3 other hall of famers on the court with him this year and he still wasn't a team player and he was expected to be. Now (if he stays) he will be expected to be the team, no way he is going to learn how to play team ball now.
