LOL I was just going to say they've scored waaaay more than 1.

Marcus Aurelius 07-14-2004 10:35 AM

guess without the 3 pack mules and 4 underfed guys with machetes from the phillipines leave we are truly screwed from a military standpoint. :)

BradM 07-14-2004 10:37 AM

They removed 8 troops already? Jesus these guys are absolutely a MASSIVE military force to be reckoned with.

mardigras 07-14-2004 10:38 AM

LOL, I sad 1... not the only one:glugglug

JFPdude 07-14-2004 10:38 AM

BEIJING, July 14 (Xinhuanet)-- The Philippine government has announced that the country has begun to withdraw its troops from Iraq to secure the release of a Filipino held captive by militants.

CNN reports the number of Philippine soldiers and policemen in Iraq has been reduced from 51 to 43. CRIENGLISH.com reported Wednesday.

Ealier, the Philippine foreign ministry confirmed that the country will pull out its troops as soon as possible to defuse the hostage crisis.

The United States voiced disappointment over the decision, saying it sends a wrong signal to the militants.

Who was giving me shit yesterday saying more than 51 troops?

hahahaha I guess the mini van they used only hold 7 troops at a time.
:1orglaugh

Well what's bad is they publicly say they are doing it to try to save the hostage. They could just play it off as doing what was already scheduled rather than hand them clear victory on a platter. It's not the few people we are losing helping over there, it's the massive boost it will give the thugs and wannabes.:2 cents:

mardigras 07-14-2004 10:45 AM

Besides, their leaders will probably just tell them that they defeated the country of The Phillipines. Any wacked out jihadist thinking he's going to blow up and fuck 72 virgins probably can't count to 51:glugglug

i agree. totally screwed up situation after reports claimed that the CIA messed up big time in their intelligence gathering about the so call WMD. This has lead to more anger and hatred to the people of Iraqi to the US and British lead coalition forces

ZanyCash Larry 07-14-2004 10:47 AM

It's a tough choice. You get fucked either way.

silent moan 07-14-2004 10:49 AM

maybe it's score for the said "human slaughter" but can't you imagine the happines this will bring into the family of victim, I think the Philippine Gov't just give importance into the essence of life

So what will you say if they kill him anyway?

Corleone 07-14-2004 10:59 AM

right decision!

Roger 07-14-2004 11:11 AM

The Philipino government was spineless and gave in to the US pressure to go to Iraq. But the population who already was against the war at 80% was angered even more by seeing Philipinos at the risk of being killed for some cause they don't even believe in.

Next time you build a coalition, make sure it's not a fictional one.

loverboy 07-14-2004 11:15 AM

this war was based on unrealiable intelligent sources, flawed by the CIA/British intelligence. Now tell me, who's the enemy right now

zanycash Pete 07-14-2004 11:16 AM

They were pulling out anyway!

Yes, but my point was that the Philippine foreign ministry made it a point to announce that they were pulling out its troops as soon as possible to defuse the hostage crisis. Totally unnecessary. Just do it.

The half of the population in polls that look poised to send us back for 4 more years of the same.

Richard - Triplexcash 07-14-2004 12:38 PM

Politics begin at home.

Like someone said, the war in Iraq is by no means popular here.

Can only hope the move saves the guy's life, and doesn't cause others to lose theirs.

The war is right outside your door.

What fucking terrorist, sheep? Are they terrorists because NBC said so? Baaah. I get so sick and tired of seeing ignorance repeated. That hand up your ass must really fucking hurt.

As has already been proven over and over the American armed forces can not be matched by the Iraqis in open combat. What options are they left with? Guerilla combat (variously leading them to be termed insurgents, foreign fighters, Saddam loyalists - anything but what they are: the fucking resistance to an illegal occupation) and, now, hostage taking and killing.

It's like throwing pebbles at a tank but it's the best they can do when up against the military muscle of the US.

And a few beheadings is NOTHING compared to women, children and old people getting slaughtered and prisoners (up to 95% considered innocent by the Red Cross) getting tortured and humiliated.

Now, tell everyone again WHO is a terrorist? Give you a hint: his name is spelled B-U-S-H

ocho-ocho 07-15-2004 01:23 AM

it's not only the decision of Philippine government but its the decision of the people of the Republic of the Philippines. Only if you will see how the hostage pleaded to the government and how the family begged to pull - out the troops, probably if you we're in the government's shoe, you'll do the same thing...it was all so heart breaking...

who is suppose to rescue a filipino? of course it's his fellow filipino
people...the government just did the right thing...and for all the FILIPINO people it was the most courageous decision ever done...its their duty to save their people...

i am proud of what the philippine government has done...
coz i am a filipino...

Exactly. Bush gave Iraq to terrorists as a present and handed them some American flesh to blow to pieces every day
