500 POLICE IN CHILD PORN SWOOP

More than 500 police officers have raided 50 homes in a swoop targeting internet child pornography.

Forty-five people were arrested in the raids across Greater Manchester.

Computers were also seized for analysis and further arrests are expected to follow.

The policeman who led the operation said: "Intelligence has led us to believe that those targeted in the raids have accessed all levels of abusive images.

"Officers have been gathering information on the suspects for a number of weeks as we prepared for this operation.

"This kind of activity is not tolerated in Greater Manchester and we will continue to work towards its elimination."
