This tattoo was completely spontaneous.

After lunch at Ft. Lauderdale beach (The Blue fish), my girlfriend seen a tattoo shop. So she wanted to check out some belly button rings. Three mins later, I'm picking out a tattoo, 10 mins later I'm being needled. So forgive me if this tattoo seems gay, symbol is retarded, etc etc - I didn't have enough time to have it sink in, I never think. Just do:

I don't regret the decision at all. I'm a tough, Irish kid, with an attitude. With a "Fuck you" attitude. So the Fighting Irish symbol, with the middle finger, seemed like the best tattoo for me.

Just wanted to know what others think of it (the artwork, etc).

Tribal symbols are overplayed. People who get them are trying way over the top to be "trendy". Worse than tribal symbols, are Japanese letters/symbols. That right there is completely moronic. Moreso, than my tattoo will ever be.

Tattoos in general over overplayed. Everyone and their dog has a tattoo these days, and everyone is soooo desperate to always show people their tattoos and to have other people notice their tattoos. The worst and most trendiest tattoo ever is the armband tattoo. If you have one, you should feel ashamed of yourself. And if it's the barbed wire variety of armband tattoo, that's the equivalent of stamping the word "sheep" on your forhead.

Thin line between attention and expression. It's a bit pretentious to generalize all people with tattoos as attention whores.

However I do agree somewhat. If anything, nowadays, I would say their is less emphasis on expression/meaning of the tattoo, and is more of a comestic "accessory" worn as a badge of rebellion amongst college students on campuses.

If I'm Irish and have a Irishmen on my leg, I feel it is justified. If I am Italian, and have an Italian flag on my leg, I feel the it is justified. If my mother died, and I have an RIP tattoo, I feel it is justified. But once you start embarking on the barbwire, & chinese words across the forehead - It just may (not always) linger into the category you speak of.

In a way I wish tats would go back to the way they were. The trendy thing is annoying. I got my first ink in 1989, and have gotten a new one every year since. I started gettin em to be different....not to be like everybody fucking else. Now that they have become the "trendy" thing to do, I really wish I didn't have any.
Oh well, the fad will fade, but the ink stays the same. I'll never regret a single one of em, because each one marks a spot in my life. I can't wait till Aug. when it is time to get another one.
For whoever said "barbed wire is for sheep" I'd be more then happy to discuss just how much of a sheep I am in person. I got mine in '91 becuase it meant somthing at the time.

Awesome man. People will always have mixed feelings about your tattoos so don't take it personally. And even if it's not something your particularly into a few years down the road, bad tattoos have their own good memories anyway. I've had around 50 hours of work and even though there's 2 I'm not into as much anymore I'm still happy I got them.
