Buying content vs. Using affiliate program content

I've noticed a lot of people preaching that buying content to promote programs is the proper thing to do. My question is WHY?

If I'm pushing site A and using content that will not be seen in the members area, how will this benefit me if I'm trying to keep retention?

I've heard this for countless years and I don't see the benefit in this. Sure I use purchased content if I'm pushing a dating site, pills etc...But if I'm pushing a site like Bangbus for example, why should I use purchased content when I can use site samples that members will actually see when the enter the site?

I'm anxious to hear these replies! :thumbsup

I agree with you. If it is an "exclusive" site, with content you can only find in that members area and that is a if not the selling point... well, then, you really can't buy it anywhere, can you?

Bought content is obviously still best for the generic "mega" type sites, but for the reality / exclusive type sites... it makes no sense NOT to use sponsor provided content.

Depends on the site your pushing really. I use both paid content and sponsor content.

The biggest thing is your ability to sell in your galleries you design and your ability to get traffic to those galleries afterwards.

affiliate content is nice cos it is tailored to the site you are tying to sell.

Thanks for the creative spam.

That's true Spermshack.

But probably most that do this are promoting PPS rather than revshare and in that case it could make a lot of sense:)

There are benefits and costs for both methods. And probably more than I list.

Sponsor content.
+
It will fit the site you are working with.
No need to go looking for it.
It's free.

-
It's very likely to be saturated.
It ties you to the site you are working with and future traffic.

Bought content.
+
You are in control of your site and your traffic.
You can re-use it down the line to open AVS sites or even your own paysite.
Much better chance of getting listed and the surfer seeing something new.

-
You have to spend time and money
You have to really know what to look for, where to find it and where to use it.
You'll have to do some correcting or resizing.
Bought content is not for newbies.

Bottom line is we have some very very good customers buying content to put up on TGP and AVS sites, these guys are spending $200-500 a week on content, so don't ever believe buying does not work, for those who know how.

Great post that shows the pro's and cons. Like you mentioned, I do use the paid content for AVS' filler content, etc. I'm definitly not against buying..I just didn't see a perk to promoting an exclusive site with content thats doesn't tie in. Also, I think most experienced individuals doing galleries, etc. use programs that aren't oversaturated. I can't remember the last time I promoted a company that is filled with overpromoted sites besides on personal sites.

good post Paul,

My biggest problem with using sponsor content is being tied to that sponsor

I've been making freesites for a long long time, and I use includes for the banners and text links, but damn.. if I had to change out the content just because a sponsor wasn't converting or worse went out of business I'd just shoot myself

Also, I want all the search engine traffic I get to come to ME not to a hosted gallery

abyss_al 07-14-2004 12:49 PM

the problem with sponsor content, is that all the webmasters have it, and majority submit to the same site. the webmaster getting all these submission with same pix will decline your request because a bunch have same gallery. always good to use your own content. it makes your gallery different and puts you in control.

QualityMpegs 07-14-2004 01:28 PM

I definetely don't see how it'd be possible to promote a single girl site with regular store bought teen content. The surfer is gonna go to the sponsor looking for that specific girl and find some other girl and be like wtf?
Lightspeed Cash offers free content and hosted galleries and everything you could need ;)

shermo 07-14-2004 01:32 PM

Good points all.. . The single girl sites definitly need to showcase a single girl...that's a given.

As far as the submissions with duplicate content.. This can be solved if the company gives you member access to grab unused content and if you have unique template designs.

The HUGE plus to pourchased content as said earlier is the ability to expand it over several sites including AVS and paysite filler.

Also, what I've gathered is that people would rather use purchased content for PPS programs? Does this lead to chargebacks that have plagued the industry because people just care about the quick buck?
