doesn't work with .wmv files :(

Jace 07-13-2004 07:05 PM

with wmv files you have to set the performance down otherwise you get a black screen

True, the new version does not. I have the older version that does that someone sent me but was afraid to open it. It was in a .ace file whatever the fuck that is. (associated with my zip utility) I'm sure someone around here has an old version.

go to tools>options>performance

then switch the video acceleration all the way down to none

do this before taking any screen caps

He's lost, he is talking about using the "Print Screen" method Windows Media Player method. ie: to do that you need to set right click on your desktop, select properties, then settings, then click the advanced button, then click the trobleshoot tab, then slide the hardware acceleration bar to none. Then you will not get a black screen when doing a print screen of the windows media player.

Peace,
BV

I like virtual dub, but like everything else, you have to take a gazillion screen caps in order to get a fairly decent amount of good ones.

can you play .wmv files? if you can, can you email me the files (or zip file if you still have it)....grand |at| coedlovers dot com

Seems the new version doesn't open .wmv files

Viper2K1 07-13-2004 07:57 PM

i haven't seen a tool that produces decent quality screen captures

i have to use photoshop and play with the brightness/contrast and make it sharper

takes some time if you have to do alot, but the result is worth it for me

Mediacruise by Canopus takes the best screen captures in any video format, unfortunately it only comes bundled with DVstorm2 or other Canopus products. The only place I seen where you can download a version is the companies Japanesse site, no idea if the program is also in the same language.
