Which is better outsourced labor source: Philippines vs. India?
What's your thought?
By outsourced labor I mean web design, graphics, php, etc. |
Philippines:
Good news: $3 a day (training pay) $5 a day (regular pay) Bad news: Tend to be lazy. Must be dictated to EXACTLY how you want the job done. Need to hire 2 -- 1 to do the job, 1 to double check. The ugly: Local government industry = hitting you up for bribes or threatening you with audit. India: Good news: $2 a day (training) $4 a day Aims to please. Bad news: English sucks. The ugly: Bangalore office space rental rates going sky high. :( |

india :thumbsup
for the amount you'd pay a programmer/designer, you could get 5-10 heads working for you |
ya - but...
India will generally not do adult content - ya - some will - most will not.. Philippines - graphics quality tends to be low to really low - of course depending on who you find |
if you are looking for outsourcing designers etc. i think Philippines is still the best!:thumbsup
good english, cheap labor and nice people |

i would go for harder, faster India workers. ppl can get used to the broken english, just call Juno or IBM tech support, things will work out

Quality Counts
Education Counts :thumbsup |
Why not Thailand also very cheap.
I dont know about the Philippines but i did work with Indians in the past and they did work slow and no one was able to make anything coming close to a good design. I think those ppl would need a lot of training first. |

The best rationale I find for outsourcing is that it allows work to be performed around the clock--i.e. we would be stuck in meetings during the day, while the offshore staff does the programming work while we sleep. However, when you factor in the amount of rework and corrections, and the time you spend going back and forth over this, it would make more sense to do the work here instead of offshore. |
I had some design work done by someone in the Phillipines and it was shit. Guess I just found the wrong person.
As for programming, I've had real good luck with Romanians. They speak English rather well and work all damn day. :thumbsup |
I actually talk to some flip girls who design and their work is pretty good. They probably work for one of the better companies because their boss really hounds them about wasting time chatting instead of working.
find lauren or cutie_angle here on the boards or anyone else with www.outsourcing.com banners |
Try locals. They tend to do it right the first time. :)
|
From my experience freelance workers from India are far better. They are faster and can commit to doing the job.

I've been in the Philippines for four years, and my partners and I just started an outsourcing/contact center company in Makati.
Can?t say enough about the hardworking and dedicated people we have on staff. India, all I can say is I don?t like competing with their prices! |
