Shaquille O'Neal in a Miami Heat uniform

" MIAMI (AP) -- Expect to see Shaquille O'Neal in a Miami Heat uniform next season. Miami is expected to send a package that includes Lamar Odom, Brian Grant, one other player -- perhaps Caron Butler -- and a first-round draft choice to Los Angeles in exchange for the 7-foot-1, 340-pound O'Neal, who demanded a trade shortly after the Lakers lost the NBA Finals to Detroit." -- si.com

Laker's will never be the same without the Big fellow :(

Keev 07-12-2004 08:55 AM

i wish they would send kobe packin

Rankings 07-12-2004 08:55 AM

well damn. don't even know what to say

okny 07-12-2004 08:56 AM

Kobe will leave as well, the old folks like the Malone and Payton are retiring and the coash is gone, so LA will sucks next year.

The Truth Hurts 07-12-2004 08:57 AM

gonna suck real bad for the lakers if kobe gets convicted....

i don't think they give community service for rape.

loverboy 07-12-2004 09:00 AM

Eddie Jones and Shaq reunited in the starting lineup of Heat is another coaching opportunity for Pat Riley.

Been an LA fanatic since the Kobe era, but damn, things is going the exit way for the Laker's franchise, neither can Kobe save this one.

sean416 07-12-2004 09:06 AM

They should trade Kobe. He's a great player but A) he's tearing the team apart. B) He can't win without shaq.

true, even if you have a championship coach like Rudy, you still have to make solid star players

Keev 07-12-2004 09:43 AM

The heat are the Lakers of the east coast now....

3 former lakers that I know off the top of my head.

[illnet]-Tony 07-12-2004 09:58 AM

Shaq is the real deal !

I think he will stick to his word and leave after
Phil Jackson being replaced. Miami seems to be a
logical City for him to go to ....after being in Orlando
already.

Apperently Shaq is pissed off that Kobe is getting his way
now that the season is done. Kobe wanted Phil out and
he's gone , Shaq was tight with Jackson too.

Funny thing is that Kobe is entertaining an offer from
the Clippers , and he said that he really likes their team
makeup with some of the best young players on the roster.

So if Shaq leaves.... the Lakers better open the Vault and kiss
Kobe's ass to get him to stay. If not then that will go down in
history with Lakers losing 2 of the most dominating players
in history in one offseason.

I don't think they will lose both Kobe and Shaq.
I think Kobe will stay and play with some great young players
in exchange for the Big Diesel.

It will finally be his team ! one way or the other

C-Bass 07-12-2004 10:00 AM

Fuck Kobe...

idiot can do shit if he doesnt have Shaq there with him.

hehe, this should be interseting

this only shows how Phil is a very powerful and inspiring coach to his players. kinda recall what happened in his last days with the Bulls after winning 6 rings, Jordan saying he won't comeback if Jackson can't coach the team.

D-Money 07-12-2004 10:59 AM

FUCK!!!!!

No doubt it will take the Lakers some time to rebuild after losing Shaq. But at least he's not going somewhere like the Spurs or Rockets where he could really prevent us from going to the finals. Meeting him in the finals would be interesting, but he's got to take them there for that to happen.

I think Kobe will stay, he's just showing the Lakers how much other teams are willing to pay for him so he can get the most out of Jerry Buss. Lamar Odom will be a very nice addition, but Brian Grant won't cut it as center. The Lakers need a big strong center again.

I'd get rid of Rick Fox, keep Fisher, get rid of Payton, keep Malone for another year. Rest Malone towards the end of the season so he's fresh for the playoffs.

Anyway you look at it, it's going to be very tough to get past the first round of the playoffs next year for the Lakers. Now all Rudy has to do is teach Kobe how to play team ball. IF Kobe can play as a team, they'll go past 2 rounds next year.

sickkittens 07-12-2004 11:01 AM

Basketball is pretty boring IMO. The only game to watch is the one when the Lakers are eliminated. :2 cents:

you forget that Shaq never got a ring until Kobe was able to blossom into one of the best players in the league.

Shaq can do all he wants... what's he gonna do in the 4th quarter (where it matters) when they start fouling him?

shaq lookin for Eddie jones for help? ahahah... Eddie has the biggest disappearing act in the playoffs... his nick should be: "the invisible man" .. cuz he's nowhere to be found come playoff time.

Dewayne wade has some talent.. but he's still a few years away... by that time.. shaq will be even more fat n useless.

the man wants 30mil/yr ... too fat n doesnt play defense anymore ... trade him... i just wish the Lakeshow would get a decent big in return :(

fuelcell 07-12-2004 11:49 AM

Now I can finally stop hating on Shaq. Seems like a nice guy but I hate everything Lakers.

SetTheWorldonFire 07-12-2004 11:58 AM

this past season lakers were a ~.510 when shaq was out and kobe was in.

they were something like .720 when kobe was out and shaq was in.

I'd stick with Shaq.

MickeyG 07-12-2004 02:53 PM

kobe is going to jail, where he belongs. We're more then happy to have Shaq in Miami.

About time that Shaq revel to basketball community that he can win a championship minus Kobe. Shaq was able to realize that winning a ring, you have to learn by the rules, team effort and able to follow your coach's decision... this is how Kobe failed the test.

Lakers got their 3 rings from the Triangle offense which both Kobe and Payton failed to take advantage this time.

ZanyCash Larry 07-12-2004 03:34 PM

I am not sure now if I should get season tickets or not?

True dat! Kobe's a player but he doesn't inspire a team, like, say, a Michael Jordan. I'm tired of KB and his ego, regardless of the fact that he has an awesome touch.

he needs to prove himself next season. now that Shaq is out of his back, he has to show that he can win championship buy his own sweat. Kobe's needs more coaching before you can pair him with the greats like Jordan.

those numbers a skewed... the team was built all around and to compliment shaq... so when he's not there.. of course the numbers will hurt.

build a team around kobe... and it'll be the same way.

Kobe is history and will his fate at LA is yet to be decided

CraigA 07-13-2004 01:19 PM

Shaq is going to come down here with a chip on his shoulder with something to prove IMO. And if he does come to play in shape and ready to go, the rest of the NBA better watch out.
Dwayne Wade has to be smiling his ass off. One or two more complimentary players--and lots of guys are looking at Miami now--and the Heat will be the beast of the East.
Remember, Detroit didn't exactly stop Shaq in the Finals. Hoggish, selfish, arrogant Kobe did by hoisting up stupid ass shots all the time.
