notepad

use advanced notepad like homesite or ultraedit.
if you like to see what you're doing rather than knowing what you doing i recomend dreamweaver.

errr, i didn't see 'free' part - that word is on autoignore, i apologize.

don't know any free once that are as good.

I liked notepad until some fucking spyware or something fucked it up on me

I believe kazaalite is now giving away free copies of dreamweaver. Seems like a good deal.

Notepad isnt exactly great for complex designs

A good Html editor is dream waver also it is not free.:)

They let you download it for free. After a little modification, it doesn't stop working after 30 days.

imho, the best way to get free software is to download a paid one, and then make a "little modification", as it was said above. and it will become free. :Graucho
