What bothers you the most about a designer?

...and what are some ideas that might help solve or improve these?

I'd appreciate the information if some of you would get into details about this subject.

Feel free to discuss anything related to improving working with a designer even if it's not in my poll list.

Also, I have something coming out soon, keep your eyes open, will be beneficial to you webmasters buying gallery designs.

I've noticed that everyone with a copy of photoshop thinks they can be a designer.

stevecore 07-10-2004 05:08 PM

this should be a good thread. :thumbsup

I biggest gripe is with designers that promise one thing, and deliver another. Not naming names, I waited forever for one site to get done.

The designer in the long run discounted the job, but even with the discount, I feel I got what I paid for, and will probably need another designer to fix what I wanted in the first place.

I will say Tootie @ BannerBabe rocks my fro, and I am happy with everything I've sent her to work on! :thumbsup

The excuses and runarounds you get when the desired product is not delivered.

Simple solution - pay in partial payments > or payment after product is delivered.

I forgot to add that.

Pisses me off when a designer takes on more clients that he/she can handle.

Missed deadlines..a month after a promise date

Khun 07-10-2004 07:33 PM

When they skip town for a damn month and dont let know know.

Rochard 07-10-2004 09:38 PM

All of the designers I have worked with have jumped through hoops for me. I can't remember the last time I rejected something, and anytime I've wanted changes or something different they have always come true.

AVM 07-10-2004 09:51 PM

You know what I hate most, and I'm sure most will agree:

Designer: "Do you've any sites in mind that you would like the look of. And or, just name a few of your favorite website designs online. That way I can get a feel for what you like."

You: "Well, I love this design at EXAMPLE-SITE.com as well as EXAMPLE-SITE2.COM. Both are extremely well designed. Great quality!

Designer: "To be honest, although both sites look good, they're below my skill level. I assure you I can make a mock-up, very similar in color scheme, twice as nice in quality, and a overall look that will astound you much more than those mentions above.

Week later, it sucks. Primitive, 1999 angelfire/geocities type of imaging. The audacity, to belittle someone else's quality work. And promise to not only match the work above, but to "exceed it". Fucking amazing how low these fucks go to sell themselves.

FuckFind 07-10-2004 10:12 PM

I hate this designer named fuckfind. He's retarded, end of story.

I know that I would really hate to be related to a designer as they seem to suffer from an inordinantly high number of deaths in their families, which usually transpires into several weeks worth of mourning and funeral arrangements.

:2 cents:

It always pisses me off when they pick at thier balls...

Lee 07-11-2004 03:19 AM

But the thing that pisses me off more than most is when my work is delayed for whatever reason (usually another death in the family), yet I see them posting on message boards....that really fucking infuriates me

So your saying they lie about a family members death then kick back and post on message boards?

WOW, the truth is finally here!!....
I'm so glad I now understand..

Lee 07-11-2004 04:08 AM

Err, the bit in brackets is sarcasm, but I shouldnt really have to explain that Im sure. The point is they find a reason to delay then you see them popping up on messageboards when they could be getting the shit done.

Jakke PNG 07-11-2004 04:16 AM

Deadlines. I'm a designer myself, and quite frankly I miss the date I'm aiming myself (this time I'm making the shit for myself, so that's not an issue :))

I've ordered maybe 4 designs in my life and webinc is the only one even remotely on time. They delivered on time. :)

TurboAngel 07-11-2004 04:29 AM

I have never used one, Turbface has done some work in design. He now only does hie own sites.
