What's your favorite board game?

Maybe I'm lame but I think board games are a lot of fun and still like to play them. Some nights a bunch of us will sit down and have game night. Chips, beer, music, and a good game or two.

Monopoly gets a lot of play at my house. One of my childhood favorites, and oddly enough it seems to be everyone's favorite childhood game.

If I'm not too drained a good game of chess is always fun. I don't play often but for some reason I'm getting a lot better whenever I do play.

Poker of course is a must. We play Texas Hold 'Em. We used to play weekly but now we rarely play.

And of course Risk. It can be pretty slow at times but it's a great game overall.

A friend was just in Germany for a month and brought back a game called "Seidler" or something like that. I've only played twice but I'm already addicted. Reminds me of Risk. Actually I'm about to go play it in a little bit.

Am I missing anything?

I have not played any board games in a long time but I always liked Monopoly, Payday and Risk. For card games, which I also have not played for some time, I liked Rook and Touring.

Donald Trump's Board Game.

Only in that game can you trade properties for one turn, sell the property you "Own" for one turn, then trade back what you still own again.

My wife almost divorced me over that one. :1orglaugh

JulianSosa 07-09-2004 10:10 PM

I played uno for about 30 min last week in Maui with a 4 year old and a 9 year old It was alot of fun

NoCarrier 07-09-2004 11:10 PM

Damn, nobody plays cribbage here?

psyko514 07-09-2004 11:11 PM

Monopoly is my #1 favorite board game and Risk is #2.

Unfortunately, I haven't played either in years :(

Me and my friends would have Monopoly games that would span days and nights. We played it all summer and had huge sleepovers.

As for card games, I love Asshole (aka President) and Uno. Me and my girlfriend often play Uno and we often get a group of 4-6 people together to play Asshole.

Axis and ALiies can get really intense and long .
Heres a scenario.
Sub Combat
Germany ....moves sub through panama attacks British Destroyer...german Sub rolls a 2
sneak attack rules..german player wants to retreat back through Panama...
(british Player) FUCK YOU MAN ITS A MOVE THROUGH PANAMA AND YOU USED IT ...NO RETREAT.... this and other tricky little moves like this...man I have almost sen peeps go at it over the intensity of tricky little moves like this...and the blitzkrieg into Causcus and etc.. any axixs and allies player who knows the rules ( planes free shot on subs etc..) knows this game is really haywire...especially cool when you get five peeps playin and the teamates get greedy and ...although allies...wont cooperate out of greed...really a true insight on how ww2 was dealt...I love this game ....been playin it for close to 15 years off and on with the same group of friends here and there... not lately though since were all doing our thing...theres a time and aplace for this game though whether it be 1-1 or a whole bunch of people...but its a mans game that takes time to learn and patience...oh and back in the day I used to smoke a whack of weed... I dont know, seemed to help back then ...I even hand painted all the little pieces with testors...lol

the most complicated issue is russia vs germany.

every move takes immense calculation. same with figuring out what to do with japan on the other side. i've played this game 100 times.

I LOVE THIS GAME

I LOVE THIS GAME

japan = planes= works good
russia = whack of men and inch by terititory crawl to the center with tanks each round etc... tonnes of different \strategies and one wrong set of dice rolls in a key battle can have you sitting around for hours watching the life breath of your team get wretched from it lungs as you as the player beg for sleep but, sworn to to play , do so to the end... no quitters can play this game with any honor...you only get a few shots at that lol.

I played fortress america but it had alot of flaws...MB just put out two more versions of A&A ...ones called "War in the Pacific" (80$ CAN) and the other focuses on the war in GER (80$) CAN...Havent tried either...SHOGUN always looked cool ...but its hard to find a BUNCH of people all interested in the same thing...I love playin Germany or Britain

forress america sucks.

the 2 'new' axis/allies have been out for a long time now, both don't come close to the original. i own them both.

there was an expansion kit for the original axis game, which kicked ass, but it's very difficult to find. the map is beautiful.

conquest of the empire is the best of all the series - it's simply the best war board game i've ever played. damn...

neverlearn 07-10-2004 02:55 AM
