Porn - The real definiton. How many of you know it?
porn
n : illegal activities designed to stimulate sexual desire [syn: pornography, porno] Alot of you youngsters here throw the term porn around a lot sometimes I do to, but I doubt you understand it's real meaning. This is why people try to impress upon you to call yourself adult webmasters, etc....because porn by and large is illegal. This is why those old 70's print movies had stories to them, while it was bad acting it was necessary in order to show good faith in providing something with artistic merit and not just a five minute fuck reel reserved for glory hole encounters in your local adult bookstore. Anyway...discuss...debate do whatever the catch phrase all the cool guys are saying this week. |

Some say it degrades women, some say it corrupts young boys (who down-load it from the World-Wide Web or exchange it on floppy disks). Most of it is in the form of JPEG images. There are many sites on the World-Wide Web offering porn of all sorts, almost always for a subscription. It is said that these are a driving force in the evolution of new technology and techniques for the web. Advertisments for them certainly constitute a significant proportion of all spam. There are even pornographic computer games, an early example being Mac Playmate. Beware - many institutions, particularly universities, have strict rules against their computers and networks being used to transfer or store such things, and you might get corrupted. porn does not exist...its merely a mirage

The definition of the word "porn" has changed and evolved over the years, as have the community standard of tolerance for it. (at least in most modern countries)
People in general used to consider the very mild publications like Playboy as pornographic...... but nowadays people (again, in general) think of the more hardcore depictions as being porn, and the softer stuff as being simple nudity. I no longer think the word 'illegal' is directly associated with the term "porn" (by and large thanks to the awareness the internet has wrought). I believe the word 'illegal' is now more associated with "obscene, obscenity, child porn" etc. Porn is just.... well, porn. |
