Anyone here take Predisone?

I was diagnosed with Asthma yesterday and have to start taking this....I don't handle stimulants very well due to anxiety disorder but I've grown to tolerate caffeine in my diet vanilla cokes.

However I know when drinking cokes and then taking something that has side effects like a stimulant it could enhance the side effects...so basically I'm wondering if any of you have experienced anything bad while drinking massive amounts of caffeine while taking a drug like predisone.

One of my ferrets takes it every day. It's a steroid right? My vet has him on it to keep a tumor from growing.

Yeah it's some kind of steroid.

Prednisone is an anti-inflammatory and will not act like a stimulant at all. I have taken it in the past for joint issues in my neck and the only side effect was sometimes it would hurt my stomach if I did not eat first.

I suspect that Prednisone will be a temporary prescription for your Asthma (then other medications will be prescribed)...and I have personally known people that have pretty major mood changes while taking Prednisone.

don't worry about that. I presume these 'stimulants' are taken by inhalation. I'm not sure to what extend they also act systemically, but the purpose of inhalation is to get them to work locally. Just don't worry, than the chances are smallest you'll develop anxiety attacks :thumbsup

I presume you got salbutamol

Good to hear...I can't even have my teeth worked on now without having to be sedated.

Last time I tried without they had to hit me up with some valium almost immediately.

Now when I go to the dentist costs a lot more time and money because they have to bring in an anesthesiologist just to inject something like adovan into me before they start with the novocaine.

My husband has mild asthma and he cannot deal with the Advair. It totally wires him out. He likes the good old fashioned albuterol inhaler and uses it only when necessary.
