Sound banners, once again.

Alright, could we please get rid of the sound banners. They really make me not want to come to GFY.

Babaganoosh 07-09-2004 01:14 AM

Gosh, good thing GFY is a democracy and our polls matter. I'll bet all of the sound banners will be gone by tomorrow. :1orglaugh

Advertisers matter. Our opinions don't.

Validus 07-09-2004 01:28 AM

I really dislike those banners, especially when you are on the phone. You try to minimize the browser, or try to go to start, and BAM some girl is screaming at you.

emthree 07-09-2004 02:08 AM

sadly they just dont care :(

bu sound banners!

NoCarrier 07-09-2004 07:52 AM

No matter how many threads, votes, whinings, suicide.. Nothing will make them change that.

Controversy = publicity.

Some people just don't seem to get that concept.

If no one clicks on it or even talks about it. Audio banners will go away.

The opposite is happening now..

There are 10000 threads every day about it.

Jakke PNG 07-09-2004 07:54 AM

I'm basically curious what will happen if this carries on. I'm seriously thinking of getting software to prevent from flash loading on GFY. I bet that I'm not the only one.. advertisers must love that.

Roald 07-09-2004 07:54 AM

maybe if we all make a thread about it they will remove 'm.

candyflip 07-09-2004 07:56 AM

I only approve of them if they use unlicensed music content.

Basic_man 07-09-2004 07:57 AM

No more banners with Sound

If you do find some good software that does just that, let me know please!

Is it really that hard to reach over and turn your speakers off.

The forum needs to make $$$ too. You want to pay for bandwidth?

Exactly... This affects advertisers who don't use sound as well.
I for one am looking for a solution to disable Flash in IE right now.

One more people mentioning turning off music and I'm coming through the screen to stab him in the face with a rusty screwdriver.

axelcat 07-09-2004 11:02 AM

I agree that sound is annoying, especially when it's a moaning - kinda hard to explain that away when on the phone lol
But I guess those banners creates a higher click-through or why else would they insist on using those?

Validus 07-09-2004 03:40 PM

Exactly!!!! so, lets get rid of the flash sound banners.
