Summer slowdown?
 

Any old webmaster in here?

What about that "slow summer" thing? BIG slowdown or just a little slower? This is my first year in the business and I would like to know if there'll still some surfers left to buy membership in 2-3 months http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif I heard people saying that it hurts 50% of their incomes. That's a lot for 3 months in a raw.

The only it slows down is when you slow down,
I've been through a couple of summer, xmas, new year and winter slow down's and never noticed a difference.
Slow down normally means that for one reason or another sponsors arn't converting as much as normal which can be put down to many things, when you start to see a trend like that you just work a little harder...if you can call this biz hard work that is.

I have to agree with Justin, "The only it slow down is when you slow down"

My traffic always goes down in the summer. Maybe I'm not working as hard as you guys! This year I'm going to do some double-time in the posting and hopefully I'll cancel it out.

holidays are usually better for me.. lot more people buy more membership on holidays.. (my guess they have more time to look at porn..)

Summer makes people more horny - men see girls wearing less during summer so are more likely to run back to their PC's and choke the chicken... or is it turkey ?

I've seen a 75% drop in sponsor income this month.

Of course, that's from $4/day down to $1/day.

Last year I saw about a 30% drop in traffic. It shot back up in September.

Could the traffic fluxuation be caused by students heading home? Less students in their dorms checking out porn? Or is it just because people are out and about doing things, instead of hanging out on the computer?

I've lived thru three summers as an adult webmaster. They have all been quite normal.

My guess is that the talk about a summer slow-down orginates from what the situation was like around 1996-97. Back then most webmasters experienced a dip during the summar months. Nowdays possible seasonal varitaions seem to run on a pretty small scale.
