Am I the only guy with a mac here?

Come on, don't be shy, stand up.

I am not the only person with a shiny powerbook here, am I ??

Johny Traffic 07-08-2004 05:00 AM

I have 3 PC's and an Imac I keep around because it looks nice :)

PrivateIvy 07-08-2004 05:00 AM

The only thing that is stopping me from going mac is software.

Everything I code for myself is in VB/VC++ and some important things I use are Windows-Only.

I understand there are emulators, but I really wouldn't put much faith in them working seamlessly without tweaking all the time.

I work with audio using mac.

digidesign pro tools set up, in totally mobile flight case with dual 180 gig drives and back ups. even the monitor sits in the flight case.

my buddy rents his mac out for 700$ a day for musicians to record with.

i never see people do that with a PC ;)

:thumbsup

that rig is so overpriced it is outright theft... the crummiest and oldest of the entire G5 line, w/ a display that has already been replaced w/ a much better model that actually matches the G5's... dont buy that..

joshuawk 07-08-2004 09:58 AM

can ya show me one that is a better deal g5 ?

i know nothing of macs but am buying one this week

hows this

Big Cheese 07-08-2004 10:02 AM

My iMac just broke down. The fan stopped spinning only after making a bunch of noises and it smells like burning electronics inside.

I'm kinda hoping it goes up in flames. Never had a monitor/computer do that before. :)

Azlord 07-08-2004 10:04 AM

Do all my work on a Mac. Either my Dual 1.8 G5 or my 15" powerbook. Still need a PC to check how designs look on IE 6.

joshuawk... now thats a nice machine. are you checking the "special deals" section over at the apple store for refurbished machines and such though? ebay is not really the best place to buy a secondhand mac (good place to sell them at high prices though!)... i bought a dual G5 from Apple as a refurb early this year and it arrived looking brand new in the box..

joshuawk 07-08-2004 10:08 AM

heh i can barely tell the diff between the two..
ebay has a lot of scammers im sure.

but this url isnt a bad machine?

ill just get that then rather than fucking around

ill check the apple store quick though

Vitasoy 07-08-2004 10:13 AM

I think they're a waste of money. :2 cents:

joshuawk 07-08-2004 11:23 AM

chupacabra

will you tell me what the diff in the 23" inch cinema displays
is and show me a good on on ebay

thanks

loverboy 07-08-2004 11:32 AM

mattyboy 07-08-2004 11:42 AM

Great monitors, dual cpu's, nice looking etc, etc...

...but they still come with a one button mouse and no scroll wheel :1orglaugh

joshuawk, the white/clear plastic displays are all cancelled, they were replaced recently w/ the new models that are made out of aluminum just like the G5's and Powerbooks, don't invest any serious money on one of the older models, their value will drop seriously fast... i don't think the new displays have made it to ebay, the last place i would ever buy something like a Mac..

joshuawk 07-08-2004 12:17 PM

i like the way the clear ones look

the new displays are all 16ms response time, much faster and better refresh rates than the older models... i think the old kind look like crud thoguh compared to the new, the white and clear models looks sculpted out of solidified cum to me..

infectd 07-08-2004 12:56 PM

I have an ibook I use when Im on the go.

quiet 07-08-2004 12:57 PM

i do everything on a 17 inch powerbook :glugglug

I have a 15in TiBook and use a usb mouse that has 2 buutons and a scroll wheel and the right click functions work fine.

Panther is a slick OS and kicks the shit out of anything Windows is doing.

and yes, I still have two PC's also.

:2 cents:

M_M 07-08-2004 01:05 PM

I don't ever see myself making use of a Mac. Some feel confortable with them, but thats only because thats what they are used to.

Dual processor G5 here. :thumbsup

M_M 07-08-2004 01:09 PM

Ipod was what saved Apple's ass. Soon that sector will also be owned by Sony anyway.

I don't see a bright future for Apple unless they drop their prices.
